You wouldn't know that such a decent place was hidden down a decrepit old lane in the middle of an army base (kinda). Seriously - get that lane's surface fixed! It's like having a really bad massage. I came here for a birthday party with about 30 others. We had booked afternoon tea and tables were laid out nicely for us. My vegan wife and I were well looked after, including tonnes of hummus and some tomato-avo sarnies. The scones were quite small and we could have done with more but the effort was appreciated all the same. The jam was forgotten until we asked although to be honest it was quite funny and we were still eating savoury stuff anyway. Service was otherwise attentive and they were a friendly bunch. There's plenty of parking here and there's a lovely (if bleak) view across the lake. Watch out for chickens and geese. Also - and please don't support it! - there's a fishing/gun shop next to the cafe.

This place was recommended to me by friends and family.......so finally got around to visiting here. The road in is a little lumpy bumpy but once you reach the end you are welcomed by the lovely view of the fishing lakes (Gold Valley Fisheries) and an ample parking area. We walked in where we greeted by friendly staff member who showed us to our table looking out onto the lake. We ordered our food and coffee's at the till, and a short wait our drinks arrived and what seemed like 15mins our food arrived, freshly cooked and piping hot with meat used from the local butchers Turners in North Town. The food was in a very generous portion and tasted amazing and was truly sated. I also noticed a generous selection of cakes if you fancy a sweet treat and would be a great place for a cycle club stop. We will definitely be visiting here again.

We visited the Lake house for my mum's birthday lunch. It's a nice location though easily missed if you don't know it's there as it is tucked down a little road with minimal signage. There is a large carpark so no issues with finding somewhere to leave the car and it's about 50 feet away from the Lake House itself. There is a nice little outdoor seating area and several different sized tables inside to accommodate various sized groups with large windows that look out over the lake. It's a very nice little place and the food was good for the price though it was a bit chilly in there, we kept our jumpers on for the majority of the meal. Lovely staff and reasonably quick, attentive service. Would recommend for a quite lunch out!

This place looked so nice from the photos and I was like well give it a go and you have the lovely views.

We arrived and was seated by a young lady. No table service. Have to order at the counter. Alot of tables were booked with views over the lake which is understandable.

I've never been to a cafe type restaurant where you can reserve a table. It is not a fancy restaurant but more of an out building serving food.

Sat down inside and had plastic style covers that you would find at a kids play centre. Not great start. Went outside to see the lake and actually very nice and good seating with umbrellas with a deck. So much better than inside in all areas.

I ordered a full English customised breakfast and my partner had eggs benedict. We had black tea and a latte. (Coffee looked like coffee and milk. nothing latte about it!

So food comes out looks ok. Very bland and small portions. Sausages looked like they been massacred in the oven and even my 2 year old didn't want to finish it. I also left one. The hash browns were the only good thing. Bacon was hard. Only 1 slice of toast which when charging per item expect 2 slices. Basically the food was terrible and wetherspooons breakfast is better than what they serve. My partners eggs were not fully cooked and eggs were gooey.

Bill was around 40 pounds and super expensive. So take that on board.

This is not really a food place if you ask me it's more of a stop off have a tea and look at the views.

May I add the nice looking photos are from 5 years ago which I didn't notice when researching.

Any greasy spoon will beat this place for breakfast.

I won't...

We have visited a few time now and always found it great and the food very nice. But today we visited with friends who have never been and all I can say is we won’t be coming again. Firstly the lady with the blonde/brown shoulder length hair, was rude abrupt and just plain ignorant made us all feel very unwelcome. Like it was an inconvenience that she was there! By reading other people’s comments others have had the same issue with this particular lady by the sounds of it. Other staff very pleasant very polite and welcoming just a shame one person let the team down. We ordered lunch and I wasn’t overly pleased with the food quality nor quantity today. We brought a child’s meal which was £6.75 which consisted of two small goujons and a handful of chips with two slices of cucumber and 2 tomatoes. I was slightly shocked at the price and quantity! Chicken burger was ok but nothing amazing. Which is a shame because we always rave to people how lovely the food is and how nice the restaurant is. Just feel the prices have gone up yet the quantity of food was laughable and the service is disgraceful from one particular member of staff and I’m unsure how she is still employed. The place is usually packed every time we go and today it was half empty! We all felt very let down and won’t be coming again. Not impressed at all. Such a let down as this WAS one of our favourites a...

Small, overpriced portions. 50 pounds for 2 adult and one baby.

Extremely rude, arrogant, and dishonest staff. The staff included a young lady and another of similar age, who teamed up and spoke to us in a loud, disrespectful, and even racist manner. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. This was the first café we have ever visited that caused our family, including our small baby, so much inconvenience. We arrived at the restaurant with our 20-month-old baby. We found a table, but there wasn’t enough space to place the baby chair, so we decided to move to another table with more room. We sat down and got settled. The staff saw us sitting there and didn’t say anything at first. Then, all of a sudden, they told us we couldn’t sit there and had to move because the table was reserved for 11 a.m. We explained that we would be leaving about 15 minutes before that time anyway. The young lady went away and then returned with another rude woman, who came shouting from a distance, saying that we must change tables. She even admitted she wasn’t sure if there was actually a reservation but insisted that we move regardless. It was extremely inconvenient to shift everything again, including the baby chair. We explained that the baby was already settled and comfortable there, but the staff behaved in a very unprofessional and...
