This is an authentic street food take-out/dine-in/delivery place, which is rare for the NW, and I speak from experience. I am from Thessaloniki and in 10 years in Manchester I have not come across a better Greek street food place. The meats are imported from Greece and sauces, chips, and the pita (proper pita, exactly as in Greece) are all made in-house by the lovely people owning the business. As a Greek, obviously, this is a rare treat, and although understandably costs more than what it costs in Greece, its still in line with lots of other take out places, kebabs, pizzas, wraps, sausage baps and what have you, that cost the same yet are rubbish. I never go for those, as I am very picky with delivery places. Perhaps the occasional Chinese, and the local chippie (Wigan) can satisfy me. But not as much as MGSF! So to be more specific. The souvlaki is amazing, imported Greek pork, perfectly cooked each time. Put it in a wrap with pita and its heavenly. Try it without tzatziki some times to appreciate its own taste. The sauces, btw, are home-made, tzatziki, tyrokafteri, humous, etc and they are absolutely fantastic. Yeeros, both pork and chicken are great too. I obviously appreciate pork more because that's the original yeeros in Greece, chicken came later as a lighter and different option. Lamb and chicken kebabs are more popular in England, but remember, this is Greek pork we are talking about, so its a different case altogether. I could be here writing all day, so the takeaway is this: everything in this little place is spot-on. Its exactly what its supposed to be to match the authentic Greek experience, if some people don't like that, that's fine, you can't account for taste. But for me, its the best in Manchester. Yes its pricey for me, I can't claim it feels as easy as buying street food in Greece itself, but what is cheap around these parts these days? You can perhaps get a decent burger, but that would be closer to a tenner. (Wraps are around the seven pound mark) The people are sweet and courteous, very professional yet friendly and kind, special mention to Claudia who takes the orders, she is sharp as a tack and remembers everything, its almost scary. They even had courambiedes (amazing Greek biscuit-type desert) today (mid Dec) for Christmas, hand-made by them! Just heaven. You owe it to yourself to try it at least once. If you don't like it, you don't like authentic Greek street food,...
Read moreThis was a spontaneous purchase as I was in the area and needed a spot of lunch. I miss any type of Greek food after holidaying there last year so when I saw this spot I was excited to go in and check it out.
Any new places I try out I always like to do my own cleanliness inspection before purchasing! I was pleased to enter a very clean shop with nice clean tables the grill on which they cook on was also very clean.
I went ahead and purchase the Chicken yeeros with the OMG sauce. It was really flavoursome and the meat was one of the best seasoned I have tasted here in Manchester. The only downside was the fries inside were lukewarm and the meat so I think that maybe they had pre prepared it to serve. However ate it all because it was that yummy
Customer service overall was good, the contactless /card machine was not working so I had to order online and was advised to use my card instead of Apple Pay but that was out of there hands
I would fully recommend this restaurant and I look forward to...
Read moreMixed grill for two. £26.95. Sorry not impressed. Very very small portion size. The box is 75% filled with the bread and fries which are obviously very low cost items. The meat was very dry and all tasted exactly the same with a very strong aftertaste of thyme and rosemary. Side salad is tiny and you only get one, it contained tomato, a couple of bits of feta and some green pepper. No lettuce or any of the usual stuff you would expect. Sauces again absolutely tiny portions about 3 tea spoons worth in each of the two pots. Given how dry the meat was those sauces lasted about 5 seconds. Honestly I would say its twice the price it should be. Made a special trip here after reading all the good reviews and was left very disappointed. If it had been £12-£14 I might have said it was alright, but at that sort of price it needs to be spot on and a proper portion for two people, I could have easily eaten...
