Here's a straightforward review for Ashoka that includes comments on the food, staff, and atmosphere without mentioning specific dishes:

Restaurant Review: Ashoka

I recently dined at Ashoka, and I was thoroughly impressed by the experience. The food was excellent, with rich flavors and perfectly balanced spices that showcased authentic Indian cuisine. Each dish was crafted with care, providing a delightful blend of tastes that left a lasting impression.

The staff at Ashoka were commendable, offering attentive and friendly service throughout our visit. They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, making us feel genuinely welcome and appreciated.

The atmosphere at Ashoka was beautifully Indian, creating an inviting and immersive setting. The decor featured traditional elements that gave the place an authentic vibe, while the soft background music enhanced the overall ambiance. It was the perfect environment to relax and enjoy a meal with family or friends.

Overall, Ashoka offers a wonderful combination of delicious food, exceptional service, and a warm atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a taste of India in a comfortable and...

Went on Valentines day with my husband and we had a fab time. The restaurant is lovely. Its situated upstairs and is quote spacious. Decor is bang up to date with lovely comfy chairs. Service was excellent- staff couldn't do enough for us. Food was superb. Every course was faultless. The Valentines package deal was brilliant value. Everything was cooked fresh, looked visibly appealing and most importantly, tasted amazing. Would definitely visit again and would thoroughly recommend to anyone who loves Indian food.

UPDATE 14TH MARCH Another amazing meal in this great wee hidden gem in Muirhead. Had the spiced onions & popadoms then sharing platter starter with pakoras, samosa, bhaji - all lovely hot and fresh. Then Hubby had Chicken Rogan Josh and I had Lamb Lababdar. We had fried rice and a plain naan. The food was so good. The lamb was melt in the mouth and the sauce was thick, creamy and with a hint of spice. The Rogan Josh was creamy and mildly spicy with the chicken lovely and tender. The staff are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The setting is beautiful and prices are very reasonable. Definitely...

We went here on Saturday night was so looking forward to our meal. My husband ordered spiced onions and poppadoms, lamb bhuna, I ordered chips and scampi as I don't eat Indian food. The spiced onions where too dry, the lamb bhuna and plain nan, was tasteless lacked flavour. My order was exactly what I ordered scampi and chips!!!!!! No dressing in a bowl nothing exciting to look at. I'm not complaining as I don't like salad but I've never had this served to me in this way. On the brighter side the scampi and chips was delicious. We informed the staff about the bhuna having no taste to it they had another portion sent out which was slightly better but not up to the standard we have had at other restaurants, also the nan was greezy another 1st for us. I'm afraid I wouldn't even give the Ashoka Muirhead any stars. But I have to give just 1. Such a disappointing meal, considering we have been to the Ashoka in kirkintilloch many times and NEVER been disappointed...

Another lovely meal in this great wee restaurant. Great decor, great customer service, and great food. Food is quick to come, hot and fresh. We had the onion bhaji and fish pakora to start. We had popadoms and spiced onions, too. Then we had chicken lababdar with boiled rice and lamb ki boti with pilau rice and naan bread. For desserts, we had the ice cream and raspberry sauce and toffee sauce. Everything was super tasty. Portion sizes are very good. Everything was amazing. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for good food at decent prices. Lots of choice on the menu, including vegetarian and vegan options, too.

Ashoka Muirhead was a great experience. The servers were really kind and welcoming as well as prompt. They had great knowledge of the menu and it made ordering easy. We opted for a selection of starters with my personal stand out being the tandoori salmon. The mains we opted for were a combination of chicken and lamb dishes. The highlight was probably the chicken tikka desi jalfrezi. The spice levels were perfect and the pedhwari naan was also excellent. You'll find it difficult to get such great quality and portions for a good price elsewhere. Would and will most definitely return.
