Black Rooster Coatbridge — Restaurant in Scotland

Cash only. The nearest cash machine is (according to Google maps) 0.5 miles away which was recommended by staff. This, coupled with the convoluted drive involved to reach the building can be irritating before you've even asked to be seated.

Slow, lax staff. Being a Friday evening around the 6 o'clock mark, it wasn't particularly busy. A few people sitting awaiting collection orders. However, it still took a full 5 minutes for any member of staff to greet and then inform that a 10 minute waiting period was necessary.

After the aforementioned 10 minute wait, the menu did not show any allergy information. Upon request, the staff procured a few stapled pieces of paper riddled with boxes (not unlike an excell spreadsheet) showing the allergies related to which food etc. Spelling mistakes aside, it would seem if you're gluten free, you can't eat the chicken or the peri seasoning as it contains gluten.

Overall, the experience wasn't great, and I didn't even order the food. So sadly, I am unable to comment on the food, but judging from the overall experience, I would not be back. I'll settle for the few mile drive to the nearest Nandos. Thanks but no thanks...

I have been speaking to black rooster for almost 2 weeks now. In short I became very ill from food poisoning. A bacteria called campylobactor. This derives from undercooked poultry. In the days leading up to my sickness I hadn't had any chicken. Then 16 hours after eating at black rooster coatbridge I was ill..my doctor has done tests and confirmed the campylobactor bacteria. Black rooster accepted no responsibility only after 10 days of going back and forward. Giving time to resolve any issue that may have arisen from there negligence. Very unhappy at the way this was delt with. They initially asked me to refrain from making this public and give them the chance to resolve it amd not to worry about my missed wages. I had stepped in here so happily to get some nice food for lunch and they ordered me to a table i was absolutely frozen and we were thinking about moving tables, as we were stood up nobody came to ask if we were okay or when we sat down didn’t ask for the 10 mins if we were ready to order don’t get me wrong there food isn’t to bad. All together i wouldn’t wish to ever go for there atmosphere again. On the other hand we couldn’t even see the menu i literally had to put my torch on as it was genuinely so dark.
