Cafe Bistro — Restaurant in Scotland

Wow! Visited this little restaurant last Friday night (26 Sep) it’s absolutely fabulous. It is very small but plenty of room for the number of guests seated. We had a party of 8 and had plenty of room. Only two staff, chef and waitress, but they manage just fine with no obvious stress or hassle. The food is exceptional, one of our party who eats out a lot said it was the best meal they’d had out for a long time. Almost all of us had three courses with the bill only coming to £220. No alcohol is served but they are more than happy for you take your own drinks and happily provide extra glasses. Having failed to find any decent restaurants in Aviemore where we were staying for the week, we spotted this restaurant in Kingussie on Google maps and thought it looked promising, so phoned to make a Friday evening dinner reservation. The food was excellent, as was the service. Nice decor, cosy space, good ambience. My husband opted for the cod main course with pavlova for dessert. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection and was tempted by the intriguing Dalwhinnie whisky and black pepper ice cream. This restaurant is a little gem. Small, cosy and excellent service. The menu is limited but the most delicious and fresh food we have tasted in a very long time. Locally sourced and incredibly fresh. I really cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I think the locals are incredibly lucky to have such a delight on their doorstep. Could not believe the price for the quality of food. Would happily pay double. No alcohol is served but a Co-op supermarket within 100m sells quality chilled wine and beer which complement the meal beautifully.
