From the moment we walked in, our experience was underwhelming. No staff member acknowledged us upon entry, which immediately set a negative tone. The only positive interaction came from the waitress at the till, who was pleasant and courteous â unfortunately, this was the highlight of our visit.
We ordered a full breakfast, a salami ciabatta, and teas. After some time waiting for the drinks, I politely asked a waitress if we could have our tea before the food. Her response â âIâll get it soonâ â came across as abrupt and dismissive, making it feel as though my request was an inconvenience.
When the food arrived, it looked acceptable at first glance. However, the ciabatta was stale and seemed to have been toasted simply to mask its poor quality. The salami was overwhelmingly salty, with an off-putting taste that made the dish inedible. I managed only a few bites before asking a passing waiter to take the plate away. He did so wordlessly â no apology, no offer of an alternative, no concern expressed.
The full breakfast was similarly disappointing. The quality of the ingredients was subpar, and the portion itself was underwhelming â just two mushrooms and an unappealing serving of haggis and black pudding, which I found unpalatable.
After returning both meals, not a single staff member offered an apology or made any effort to rectify the situation. We were refunded ÂŁ11.95 for the breakfast, but even this was done reluctantly, and without any acknowledgment of the poor service or quality.
Café Monza seriously needs to invest in better-quality ingredients and staff training if they wish to retain customers. Based on this experience, I would not recommend visiting. It was a complete disappointment in...
Read moreWe have been coming here for a number of years but the customer experience today has ruined my view. The cheese & tomato toastie I ordered was soggy & had little to no cheese or tomato inside despite it costing £5 - it mainly had pre grilled cheese on top of the outside to make it look nice.
Secondly I was told a group of 3 wasn't allowed to sit in one of the booths and is more reserved for 4-6 people even though there were no other tables available (despite when asking another member of staff they said it was perfectly ok to do). I felt this was unfair treatment seeing there was 1 person sitting on their own in the other booth next to us.
When our food/drinks arrived, part of the order didn't come with the hot chocolate despite asking for it when I ordered. When I asked the member of staff about it they brought the receipt over to prove I didn't order when I specifically asked for it (who orders a hot chocolate without marshmallows). This isn't the first time they have fluffed our orders, it has happened in the past and they always use the order receipt as proof to say it wasn't asked for.
We travel into Glasgow specifically to go to Monza instead of the usual coffee shops and sometimes things can just be ignored but not when it frequently happens. Sad to say we won't be...
Read moreAs a local to the area I have spent many days sipping coffee and studying in Caffe Monza or hanging out with friends. I have always felt comfortable and relaxed.
My recent and last experience was very poor. I had been studying for some time, having ordered a diet coke. I was pondering what to have for lunch and make my order. A member of staff approached the table and advised if I wasn't ordering I was to leave as it was busy.
Whilst I absolutely appreciate the economical point of the business I felt this was a very very unacceptable manner in which approach anyone who is quietly minding the business as apose to asking if I would like anything eles as a prompt.
I honestly felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable and completely unwelcome. Dismissed in a personal capacity as well as my long standing custom to the establishment was completely irrelevant.
I felt quite upset for most of the day after this experience. I will not return to the caffe and would hope that the management act on this and train staff accordingly.
Thank you for...
