Crichton Central — Restaurant in Scotland

Whilst the food is tasty, it is pricier than the portion sizes. I sat down with my dog in the dog-friendly area waiting to be served. After nearly 25 minutes I approached the till with a bottle of juice and made it known I was sitting at a table. I was advised it was table service and to return to the table where they would take my order. I'd have expected that someone would have been over long before then. Thankfully, I was then served within 5 minutes, and the food within a further 5-10 minutes. Had this been without the initial 25 min delay it would have been 5 stars. I sat for a further 40 minutes after finishing my food (which was within about 10 mins of receiving it) without any further. I engaged a nearby member of staff cleaning the table next to me to request a coffee and scone. A further 30 minutes on, I asked the same member of staff if they knew how long it would be. They appeared not to be directly responsible for serving food and surprised I hasn't yet received it. Almost immediately a waitress approached to advise they didn't have the milk I requested. She had an alternative and sorted it immediately, serving me the coffee and scone within 5 minutes. I am not sure what led to these oversights, but it certainly detracted from what could have been a smoother, more customer-focused experience. I had booked a table and arrived a couple of minutes after 12noon. By almost 12.15 no-one had come for order or to ask if we wanted a drink. The place is well staffed and there was only one couple in having coffee. Staff just seem to stand at the bar and chat. I had to go to the bar and ask if it was still table service. We ordered a bottle of water and a coffee to be served right away and also gave our food order. The drinks arrived just before the food. We were not asked during our meal if all was ok. Nor were we asked when we went to pay the bill. The food, as always, was fab and so filling and reasonably priced which is the only reason I would return as we were not made to feel welcome at all and the atmosphere was not good. the person who took our order was unfriendly, rude. prior to ordering, i had asked her where the specials board was and she had not replied but had slowly walked round the corner of the bar and looked up at the board. as if to say it was obvious where it was. attitude. when she came to take the order she was remarkably unfriendly like she couldnt be bothered, no chat, no please or thank you, sullen. we were very uncomfortable and nearly left, but we were hungry and my daughter said it was usually good. the lady who brought the food was lovely, as were the younger staff and the food was fine. i will not...
