We went for dinner prior to an event at Easterbrook Hall which would start at 8pm. We had pre booked a table but The Bistro was only half full. Arrived at 6pm. Had to wait 20 mins to put in an order just for drinks (2 of which were the wrong on arriving). Then we ordered our food from tapas menu and waited....and waited... After 25 mins we enquired where our order was. The waitress said it was just being prepared. 45 mins on from the order still no food and further enquiries made. The waitress apologised as no food to be had in time for us to go to the event, even though we had booked the table 2 hours before, but the manager had said we could have our drinks for free (the manager should have come to speak to us and not send the poor waitress) For the first time in my life we had to leave a restaurant without receiving our order! Today we were advised by the manager that the carer would not be able to support the person unless they paid for the carer. This person has effectively been discriminated against because of their disability and we will be taking this further.    Read moreI'm at it again with the 4 stars... Now, I know this place doesn't make money. Its élégant but has a swim pool. Its chic but the staff are often too familiar. My wild mushrooms on toast (not what they called it}) was yummy. My chicken on haggis mash super tasty though part of the chicken was dry. The result of being under a heat lamp too long I suspect. My co-diners loved theirs. And the early bird price of £15 for 2 courses was I think a bargain. So why doesn't it make money? I hope it keeps open. I reckon its value is...
