Started well and ended bad. I was here for Xmas lunch. We did not wait too much to be served and the table was good and environment was also good. Had "Salmon and Prawns Rolade" for starter. The rolade iteself was lovelly, but was on top of a salad which had no seasoning or dressing. Still enjoyed, though. The main was a big disapointment. The roast beef was rubery and tasted washed and microwaved. I am guessingf it was cooked from frozen and reheated in the microwave - not acceptable for a restaurant, let alone for a Xmas lunch. The potatoes served with the roast beef were raw and tasteless, but the worse part was that one of them had a rotten bit which I did not notice before eating. When I felt it my mouth I was discussed, I had to spit it out into my naplkin. My main ended there. I left half of the meal on the plate, however, when the plates were collected the staff did not bother to ask why I left food, was it not nice, nothing! Finally, for desert I had Xmas sundae. This was a a scoop of mint icecream with some pieces of fudge and marshmellows. and cream on top. The cream texture was like cement, squashed, and bubbly, looked more like elemental cheese. It wasnt smooth and foamy, and it was not white. It was yellowish. I have just put it aside and did not touch it. Again no staff cared to ask why. All in all, I do not recomend and will...

Thank you for our beautiful lunch today! Superb atmosphere, delicious food and good company! We popped in for lunch, our first visit, and we shall most certainly be returning! Even though it was very busy, the staff were very polite and attentive, checking to make sure all was well with our meals.

My Husband had the Chilli, which was served very attractively, including nachos and chips (which looked divine!) . He's quite fussy, but he ate every bit of his lunch!

I usually opt for the salad, which does tend to be a bit boring, but is healthier for me. However, let me tell you, there was nothing boring about this Chicken Caesar Salad! The dressing was fantastic and the chicken was cooked to perfection. Not dry and not boring at all.

For pudding, my Husband had the White Chocolate and Raspberry Brulee, which again, was served beautifully with a shortcake biscuit.

I decided to have the Crumble of the day, which was apple actually. Again, would it be boring? NO, not at all. The apple crumble was delicious, with a wonderful cinnamon flavour which complemented the crumble, a delicate flavour, not overpowering in the slightest.

We shall be visiting again soon, I can guarantee it. Can't wait actually! And thank you again for the wonderful lunch - the sunshine outside was a...

Unparalleled. Did not expect this amazing quality of food and service.

My hotel nearby was understaffed the day I came here and they were only serving fast food options. I did not fancy this so I wanted to take a walk.

The centre of Dumfries was a 10 minute walk in one direction, and The Swan was a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction. Yes, there would of been more options in town, but the location of this little restaurant being on a backroad (There is plenty of space to park also) and next to the river peaked my interested in a nice evening stroll.

I do hope the pictures I have added speak for themselves as I was presented with a Starter and Main course that could of filled multiple mouths, I was amazed, and extremely happy as I hadn't eaten all day.

I ordered the Battered King Prawns for the starter and then the Sea Food Linguine for my Main. With a Pint of Pepsi to go with it the bill was less than £25. I would of happily paid more for quality of it. Tips to the staff also as they were lovely, caring and chatty!

A familiar location The Swan, under new management, is alive and kicking. It's good to see The Swan at the top of it's game again. I went there for a family meal (two adults and two young children) and was blown away by the whole experience. The atmosphere, the food, the service. All brilliant. We were greeted with a warm smile and shown to an ideal table ‐ space for the kids to stretch out. We felt like we had our own VIP section. The food was gorgeous and substantial. The server advised on the pudding and it did not disappoint. The portions are very generous so make sure you don't snack before you visit. We will definitely be returning for round two (three and four)

The Swan has redefined my 5 stars. Obviously a great place when you find it's fully booked on arrival. Gladly the weather was great and the garden area has many tables (unbookable so just arrive early,) complete with table service. The garden is well kept (with a play area,) and a great view. The food was exemplary for a Sunday dinner. Everything was cooked well; crispy light Yorkshire pudding, golden crisp roasties, a medley of vegetables, and very nice lamb leg complete with a tasty thick gravy, all in very decent quantities. The staff were friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and kept everything moving smoothly. I can't speak highly enough of the place.
