Sadly a very poor experience and almost identical to an earlier reviewer. My daughter and I arrived early for an event at the Pavilion opposite the Deli Cafe. We decided to have a quick coffee and a bun at the Deli. The Deli appeared devoid of customers inside and out. We were immediately told that we could not be served because they "Had bookings". When we explained that we only intended to stop long enough to enjoy a hot drink after travelling, the assustant consulted her boss who gave the same negative response. This was a surreal experience from an establishment that should be driven by high customer service and values. We felt very unwelcome and decided that it was not appropriate to give them even take-away business and we left. Looking across 45 minutes later, while outside the Pavilion, we could see that nothing appeared to have changed at the Deli and it still looked deserted. Having previously enjoyed visits to the Museum Cafe at Strathpeffer station, where the food was excellent and the service from the young staff exemplary. It is very sad to have had such a negative experience in beautiful...
Read moreUpdated July 2021 after previous 5 star visit June: We returned here on-spec early evening and no tables available for over an hour. (Lots sitting empty meantime though - they’re booked for later, fair enough I guess.) Not a problem though, did wonder if that might be the case, as really nice weather today. At least we can still order your takeaway pizzas….. can’t we? ‘Oh, not sure we’re doing takeaway’ says waitress, then turns to ask chef. He makes a face and says he’s ‘really busy’. ‘Sorry, we can’t do takeaway either’. So if he’s busy now with the place half empty, how’s he going to manage when the tables are full later on then? Thanks for nothing. Won’t bother trying next time. ——————— Original review: Enjoyed a beautiful pizza here last week, sitting at the outside tables on the square. Service was excellent, very friendly, nice atmosphere. Generous portions, good prices. Will return here when I’m in the area again next month. Need to try some of the lovely...
Read moreWe visited Strathpeffer for the open gardens weekend and wanted some lunch half way round. Despite the fact the whole village (town?) was so busy, we managed to get a table here. As we're not a fan of eating outside, and as the weather was so good, we managed to get a table inside. We'd been here a couple of times before and the food and service was just as good as remembered. I had a salmon salad and it was delicious. Just the right size and a very interesting mix on the plate (not just a huge pile of lettuce and the obligatory slice of tomato). Very fresh and lots of flavour. Not a huge menu because they focus on doing a small selection of food well rather than serving anything and everything. Despite how busy the day was, all the staff were lovely and friendly and still very efficient, food and drinks arrived quickly. We had two main meals, two soft drinks and one cider and a muffin and it all came to less than £40 which we considered excellent...
