This could have been a lovely meal, and I should start by saying most of the food we had today was nice. Cold and sunny May Day and there were 3 empty but reserved tables inside. We sat outside and it was chilly- no blankets etc and although there are outdoor heaters we were told they had got too hot and needed to cool down. Because they were busy food was going to take 45 mins which was stated up front. We then waited in the cold and then the rain for the food. Meanwhile nobody turned up for the reserved tables. We asked agin for the heaters- still not allowed. Tables inside were never offered. Food arrived after 40 mins and was nice although we next had to wait for cutlery to arrive and by the time it arrived the food was pretty chilly. Still not allowed heaters despite another request. Still empty tables inside. Food was nice, but the burger arrived cooked with the plastic packaging still attached. Normally I’d have sent it back but there was nobody around to fix it and we were cold and hungry. Also it was pretty cold by the time we’d waited for cutlery and then dealt with the melted plastic. Nobody checked if everything was ok. We ate quickly as it was so cold then went inside to pay- still 3 empty tables inside with reserved signs. Overall a pretty unpleasant experience and I’d avoid if they look at all busy. They should also start taking a deposit...
Read moreUnwind Coffee Place impressed me with its tranquil ambiance and expertly brewed coffee, but my recent visit unveiled two equally delightful surprises: their incredible roasted almond ice cream on bubble waffles and the truly outstanding customer service. The roasted almond ice cream is nothing short of magnificent. Each scoop delivers an intensely nutty, subtly sweet, and wonderfully creamy experience. You can taste the genuine depth of flavor from the roasted almonds, making it a sophisticated step above ordinary ice cream. Paired with the warm bubble waffle. However, what truly elevated this visit – and indeed, every visit – was the customer service. I've been to many coffee shops, and Unwind stands out. The staff are not just polite; they are genuinely pleasant, attentive, and seem to anticipate your needs with remarkable ease. Every interaction feels effortless and friendly. It's clear that they take pride in their work and truly enjoy making patrons feel welcome and comfortable. This level of service is a breath of fresh air and contributes significantly to the overall...
Read moreHaving come up from London and what was meant to be a quick stop between walks has turned into the most memorable meal this year. Both the food and wine are of impeccable quality and the owner and staff (Zara is an incredible waitress and front of house) are incredible and you can feel the love and dedication in the food.
The prawns in a tomato chorizo sauce had me licking my fingers in public and the fish platter has converted me from someone who hates smoked salmon to someone who just had never had the right smoked salmon. The wines are beautiful and handpicked and shows how much the owner knows about diverse wine palettes.
The steak was melt in mouth and the homemade hot sauce just topped everything off perfectly. In what I can only describe as ingenious, the Pico de Gallo pairs beautifully with the steak frites!
We also got some prawns in whiskey chilli sauce that was divine and despite very full stomachs just had to finish.
If you are anywhere in driving distance from this place and don't stop by you've missed something major in life.
Don't miss the...
