Don Pollo Peri Peri — Restaurant in Scotland

2nd review. After my previous review, the owner reached out and I found out two things, one, he is very passionate about his food and the restaurant and two they are dead keen to get things right and make things right if you give them a chance.

So we went back a week later and ordered similar food, this time it was all prepared exactly how it should have been. And everyone really enjoyed their meals. Loved the loaded fries this time, and my wife's chicken thighs were great too! The mash was creamy and sumptuous and all fries were cooked very well.

We'll be back, and was encouraged to bring it to the staffs attention if things are not up to scratch, they would rather get things right. Great service again from the waiting staff btw.

1st review. We went an hour before closing, so maybe there was an element of "cannae be bothered" in the kitchen. Ordered, the fries loaded with sirloin and nacho cheese, two grilled boneless thighs with peri fries, corn on the cob and creamy mash on the side and a waffle and ice cream for dessert.

The only thing warm on my plate was the chips and cheese which I could have gone to a chippy for... Nacho cheese tasted more like dairylea and same colour too. The sirloin, and veges were cold!!! Something was off with grilled thighs, defo wasn't piping hot hot when it arrived more tepid and had a more boiled taste than grilled, horrible texture.

The sides were ok, mash wasn't creamy and tasted like it was mixed out of a packet with water but it was the hottest item on the table, at least!!!

Waffles, so disappointed, they were out of a packet. I will be surprised if they have a waffle machine(s) and make their own batter in the kitchen. But to their credit, they smothered about half a giant jar of Nutella on there, so at least the kids were happy.

To top things off they only have wooden disposable cutlery, classy, and we snapped two forks each and a knife each....

There was a good reason why we haven't been back in years...

I will however give it a go because the menu is better than it used to be, just hope the food matches expectations. I didn't complain, but on my next visit I will.if the food is pants.

Got delivery eventually estimated 60 mins 1hr 40 later , no sauce with any of food the main reason you buy piri piri is the sauce , called establishment was told would be called back within 10mins , no call back 30 mins later called again to be told aw well we forgot so eh that's eh okay yeah , really really, wasted food dry no sauce unedible will definitely not order again place is a joke customer service non existent food was pretty much raw chicken not cooked through food went in the bin just get nandos I had too .

The owner has called me and apologised for the poor customer service and the way my complaint was handled William assured me he will take action to ensure it will never happen again , and for this good on you don pollo , he explained how the food is prepared and cooked and after hearing this I can say my food would not of been raw , in my opinion maybe not as charred on grill as I would of liked , William has given me the opportunity to try his restraunt again with a complimentary meal

Well I can happily say service is better than before, my favorite again , called restaurant as I had made an error on my Internet order , fixed quickly by the extremely helpful girl who answer my call 📞 food came and was delicious 😋 10 out of 10 well done don pollo a restraunt that obviously listens to there customers and takes on board there criticism and act on it hats of to you William 100% will be back again...

Hi just visited Don Pollo for the first time and was a little overwhelming or underwhelmed , the young staff were nice enough with plenty of them available but we found the explanation of dishes almost non existent and this led us unfortunately to order food that was way too hot for our palette leading to a fairly unpleasant experience . The Menu was unclear as to how hot /spicy each dish was and it wasn't descriptive enough or successful in explained about sauces being drizzled over food or put on the side. An explanation of dishes did eventually come after we sent some food back, on a positive we did taste the potential of lovely taste combinations eg. Mango lime, bbq and the food was of good portion size and freshness but a combination of waiting for 45 plus minutes due to the app failing on the restaurant side and the uncomfortable level of over the top seasoning for my elderly mum has left us flat about the experience, kids loved the milk shakes. But we feel there is room for improvement.. In table service and customer interaction, menu summary and a heat themometor, traffic light diagram or scale next to the dishes for newbies visiting your establishment.
