Nice enough environment to dine. My father enjoyed his Smoked Haddock Chowder. I had to prompt for the potatoes which came with main, no biggie, easily done. We were asked how our meal was after finishing. I didnt have the heart to respond. Unfortunately the 'Olive oil' for the potatoes was not 'olive oil'. I did enjoy the salmon however. The stake was well cooked but very fatty and small in size. The whisky sauce that came with it didn't taste like any whisky sauce I've ever had before and looked more similar to a gravy. Unfortunately, even the fries disappointed as they had a strong oily taste. The Aperol Spritz wasn't an Aperol Spritz. I believe it was just Aperol and soda water. We had Been asked if we wanted to order anything else which my wife replied 'no thanks'. However, whilst we were finishing our drinks we decided that we would like to order desserts. No sooner than having changed our mind, we were presented with our bill without requesting it and had to prompt the waitress to come and collect, after waiting for quite some time.

With this we decided to just...

We came in to eat after a recommendation from our B&B host. Not much to look at from the outside but very friendly and seemingly run by capable young women. I had a prawn cocktail, old school yummy. Then a smoked salmon chowder which I found a bit rich and one flavour, a nice flavour but a whole bowl!? 3 small potato's didn't help to break it up, a small starter bowl would have been more sensible on my part, although that wasn't on offer and the mains option was. My partner skipped starter and went into mains with a steak and kidney pie, not a pie as it was a puff pastry top and no sides, but not my meal and he enjoyed it. He then had profiteroles, proper old school, which were great. A cider and beer helped everything along. The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us, so that made the...

I've just been in for what I thought was meant to be a 2 breakfasts and 2 breakfast rolls. I was told over the phone it was a buffet breakfast and to get what I wanted when I went over to collect, and they would make the breakfast roll fresh, which was fine. When I went over for it we were told we were to early for the rolls and to help our self to the breakfast, only food they had out was link sausage and old eggs, scraps of bacon and a heap of empty trays. I sat for 10 minutes and waited for more food to come out, but it never did. I paid full price for not even half a breakfast. I got 2 sausage and 2 tattie scone squash of beans, and even then, it was scrapping the barrel of breakfast food. Normally, the breakfast it quite good, but today. Food was shocking. Definitely...

This is a review for the restaurant at Fairways. I was invited here by my friends for breakfast. At the time of visit we were still doing track and trace. There is plenty space in the restaurant. I ordered the full Scottish breakfast and what a helping you get. There is also options for toast and tea or fruit juice if you wish. It was a lovely breakfast and it was a quick service too. We were leaving just as it was filling up for early lunch time. I was needing a good walk as I was extremely full. This is an updated review at Christmas 2024. My friends and I enjoyed Christmas lunch at Fairways restaurant. We come here fairly regularly for Sunday Carvery it is consistently good value. We enjoy these times together.

We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in for another great meal. The mushrooms in my starter were huge and just lovely with the garlic mayo. My partner had the special of lentil soup which he enjoyed very much. Onto the main which was sharp out once we'd finished our starters. I had the mixed grill which meant I didn't have to choose between having the steak or the gammon which are both great here. My partner had the steak and ale pie which he always enjoys and our daughter had lasagne which she couldn't quite finish but she really enjoyed as well. Over all a great evening, especially considering that we hadn't booked. This place also has a great function suite for parties etc...
