Unsurprisingly average My wife and I thought we would give this place a try considering it’s on our doorstep. I wasn’t getting my hopes up for something spectacular as it appeared to be a cheap, quick and easy dessert place, that there are so many of around these days. Overall my expectations were spot on. My wife made the order in store and asked for 2 milkshakes, a cookie dough and a pastry from the counter. The man serving my wife wasn’t the most cheerful and he didn’t appear to know much of what he was doing. The milkshakes didn’t take too long but waited a while for her cookie dough. It wasn’t until she noticed that people that ordered after her had received their cookie dough before her she realised that she was forgot about. After reminding the staff, the woman checked the receipt and was very apologetic. There was another staff member (potentially manager) that noticed there was a mix up and again was very apologetic and offered a free cookie dough for the inconvenience which was very nice of him. Unfortunately by this time the cream on the milkshakes had melted quite a bit. However, they tasted pretty good. Although, they were very clunky at the bottom and quite bitty. The cookie doughs were not bad but nothing special. The cookie dough was much thinner than we anticipated but the taste was as expected. The pastry was the tastiest thing we ordered but even that was quite stale on the outside. It had a delicious filling though. I would ordinarily give this a 2 star but since we got a free cookie dough and excellent customer service from the man, I would say 3 star is fair. I’d imagine the slushies will be popular with the kids and this shop should do well for those who are looking for a cheap, quick (well depends who serves you) and easy sugar fix. Look elsewhere if you are looking for something special with a little...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but this experience in Bonnyrigg was beyond unacceptable. I visited both Sidestreet Burgers and Flavors, and it was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had.
At Sidestreet, I was served a burger that was not only clearly moldy and out of date, but also had blood all over it. Yes – actual blood. It was absolutely revolting. I raised the issue with the staff, but instead of showing any concern or offering help, they were incredibly rude and aggressive, and clearly struggled to communicate in English. There was no apology, no professionalism – just hostility.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, I then went to Flavors hoping for a better experience. I ordered ice cream, which turned out to be completely out of date, moldy, and had black stuff in it. Again, I explained the issue to the staff, and again, I was met with rudeness and zero accountability. No refund, no apology – nothing but attitude.
This wasn’t just poor service – it was a health hazard. Food that is expired, moldy, and bloody should not be served under any circumstance. The fact that two places in the same area had such appalling standards is shocking.
I strongly recommend avoiding both Sidestreet and Flavors in Bonnyrigg. Disgusting food, dangerous hygiene issues, and appalling customer service. You’ve...
Read moreBeen a few times we’ve ordered online from here and items have been missed from our order e.g wrong ice cream or no sauce. Small portions for the high price they charge.
Update 4th Dec- really disappointing service today. While we had much better experiences, I ordered online making use of a voucher I was given. The order kept being rejected so went into the shop. Got told the online system wasn’t working but I could order in store. When I asked if I could use the voucher (as it was expiring today), I got told no because it was a website voucher. It was disappointing that no initiative was taken to put the customer first and at least honour the voucher code; it’s not the customers fault that the business ordering website wasn’t...
