Gala Tandoori Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Scotland

We had an absolutely beautiful meal last night. (01/08/25) The food was perfect, the service was amazing, Azma and co are so friendly and welcoming - we also had the pleasure of meeting Amir the chef.

We were a group of four, I requested an extra, extra hot king prawn vindaloo - it did not disappoint. (in other restaurants in the past, I have requested the same, but been served with a disappointingly mild effort).

In addition to the vindaloo, we had a mixed biryani to share, a mixed pasandra, the old Delhi lamb rezala and a lamb pathia, as well as three different types of nan. (garlic/keema/peshwari) All of the above where absolutely beautiful.

Having previously lived in Edinburgh and dined in many Indian restaurants in London and elsewhere, I can honestly say as a lover of curry - Gala Tandoori is the real deal.

If you are looking for fantastically fresh and lovingly prepared food served with a smile, seated in very comfortable chairs, in a spotlessly clean restaurant - then give Gala Tandoori a go, we will...

Just Eat order gone horribly wrong.

The staff are ignorant on arrival, barely strike conversion and simply hand you your order and look at the door. That was the enjoyable part too.

Got home and my wife's lamb Tikka was not only chewy but possibly the worst bits of lamb we've seen yet. To top it off there was a wirey mid brown hair in it.

Now let's get to my Jalfrezzi. I don't claim to be able to consume ghost chillies etc but I can certainly handle my heat. It nearly blew the top of my head off. I dug out 11 half chillies from a 1 person portion and gave up at that point.

Gala Tandoori has been our "go to" for years as it was the best local Indian but with an experience like this it's close to the worst.

The restaurant also decided to delete our comment from our review on just eat.

Won't be back. Too busy dealing with the regret of last nights disaster.

Not angry, just...

Staff were so friendly, shown us to our table we had booked for our visit. Gave us time to order as there was a lot of us to order for. The wait time from being seated to ordering to receiving drinks/food was really short. Worth every minute it was though. Fresh food came out the kitchen very hot and was very nice indeed! They even cater for vegetarians/vegans if that’s what is needed.

Price was very good considering quite a lot of us were sat at that table at the time. Worth the money you pay. Definitely be going back to this restaurant again or even ordering a take-out from it, the food is so good!!
