An absolute disgrace of a wetherspoons, not fit to hold the name, quite frankly the worst I have ever been in. We had first of all been served our starter before even receiving our drinks which we had ordered half an hour ago then the waiter proceeded to then spill it on my partner and not clean it up or even offer a new drink or have it topped up. We then were waiting another 45 minutes until we were even noticed by the waiter that we had finished our starter for him to take the plate away, then a further 15 minutes until we received our mains which were obviously sitting under the warm lights and then had been reheated as they were warm at first then 2 minutes later we could taste the toughness of the food and it was already going cold. We then proceeded to ask a waiter to take it back as it was horrible, he was lovely enough to then offer a free dessert or to speak to the manager, we decided we wanted a refund so best to speak to the manager, who never actually appeared at our table so we had to go to the bar to actually even speak to them and had been offered a free dessert about six times until they eventually gave us a refund but even after this still offered a free dessert which we obviously did not want. The duty manager clearly had no interest in resolving this situation and only did so because we were so persistent in getting our money back. Will not be going back to this Wetherspoons ever again utterly disappointed and...
Read moreWe are regulars here as it's local & usually good value. There are usually some clearing & cleaning issues with tables. But latest visit Sunday 13th March 22. Was unbelievable. there were so many dirty plates with leftover food on tables I'm surprised they had any clean plates left in kitchen. I had to go & find a spray bottle & a cloth & clean our own table as no staff available to do it. The dirt on cloth indicated the table had not had a proper wipe over for quite a while. When our food came it was minus the extra portions of peas we'd ordered at the till. The server took the plates back & then a lady presumably a manager came out to explain to us that the classic steak doesn't come with peas. Yes but we ordered then as an extra portion we advised her. She repeated several times that they weren't included & we repeated that we'd ordered them. She seemed to have trouble understanding that her staff on the till obviously hadn't keyed in the extra portions of peas we'd asked for. In the meantime my pasta dish turned up. It looked revolting & tasted as it looked. I've seen better pasta come out of a cheep supermarket packet! Yuk I had one mouthful & left it. I can understand that they were clearly very short staffed. But the amount of staff I saw walking by tables full of dirty plates & glasses & just returning to the kitchen empty handed was ridiculous. Think we'll find somewhere else to go...
Read moreDecided on a visit following recent renovations. The space has improved, the staff remain much the same. However the food has fallen even further. I ordered a chicken burger my guests, baked potato with 5 bean chilli, and a large Scottish breakfast. A while after we ordered I was informed that no burger buns were available and would bread be acceptable, it was. Food for my guests finally arrived 25 minutes after ordering. The baked potato looked as if had been dropped from a great height [somewhat flat and spread out] As to the breakfast the black puddings were more like crisps as was the tatty scone, the toast was also very well done. 10 minutes later I went in search of my lunch. It was produced from the kitchen almost straight away. After a glance I asked to get toast that was not cremated. When it arrived at the table I asked the waitress to wait whilst checked the food temperature, as suspected cold. At this point I asked for a refund for my meal. A full refund was given promptly without any hesitation. It is unfortunate this happened but from previous visits burnt cold food does seem to be their forte. I do realise they were having problems with the lights but this should not affect the...
