Joe's Fish Bar — Restaurant in Scotland

I had a really great experience at Joe’s Fish Bar in Dundee and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for proper fresh fish and chips. The first thing that stood out was the customer service. The staff were welcoming, polite, and genuinely friendly, which made the whole visit feel really pleasant. They took time to explain the menu and made sure my order was exactly how I wanted it. It’s rare to get that level of attention in a busy takeaway, and it honestly made a big difference.

I ordered their classic fish and chips along with a battered Mars bar, and everything was spot on. The fish had a lovely crispy batter without being oily, and the chips were golden, fluffy inside, and seasoned just right. The battered Mars was a real treat — crunchy on the outside with the gooey chocolate centre, definitely worth trying if you haven’t before. You can tell the food here is cooked fresh to order, and that gives it a much better taste compared to some other takeaways. The portions were generous too, so really good value for money.

The shop itself was also very clean and tidy, which I appreciated. Even though it’s mainly a takeaway, it felt well looked after and welcoming.

Overall, I couldn’t really fault my visit. Great service, fresh food, and a friendly atmosphere — Joe’s Fish Bar easily stands out as one of the best places for fish and chips in Dundee. I’ll definitely be back again and would highly recommend it to anyone...

My order through just eat was two hours late. I was waiting patiently until they updated their order as having been "delivered". I called the restaurant to ask them to explain this and was hung upon pointing out it was scamming the just eat system by pretending to make orders on time. I then called just eat to deal with this. When the food came the delivery driver flat out refused to even let me get word in just shouting do you want your food or not. Frustrated with not getting a word in edgewise. I kept asking him to let me speak. Him replying only that he would "sort me out". He began pushing and grabbing me at which point it got heated and shouting between us developed. He was insulting and abusive. All to avoid even taking a complaint to the shop. He threatened me several times before my flatmates had to interject and he finally left. Disgusting way to handle everything from start to finish....

my order was 25- 30 minutes late and was deliverd cold and unedable. when i phoned them they said that they were really busy and would send out replacement an hour later no replacement then i phoned to find out how long it would be to which they replyed with we cant do it tonight and will need to be tomorrow. phoned up today they send out order but tried to charge me more than they charged yesterday for the same order then when i phoned again they refused to replace or refund the order. really dissapointed been going to this chippy for over a decade never had problem like this before with them or any takaway. there customer servis is the worst i have have delt with. Well done guys i will never order from here agian and nor will my friends or family who have also been going there just as long. customer service is the most important disciding factor in any company...
