Booked a table for 7pm. We got held up, so arrive 20 minutes late. Got taken to our table, served drinks. We waited 15 minutes and no one came to take our order, so my husband got up to fetch some service. Orders taken then another 15 mins for starters to arrive.. We ordered the sharing platter.. We were pretty appalled at what arrived! A small wooden tray with a few bits of salami, 3 small slices of mozzarella, 2 slices of tomato, bunch of leaves covered in oil and 4 unpitted olives. The ham was dry, tasteless, the mozzarella was vile - like milk gone off. £14.95 for this atrocity! Needless to say we were pretty ravenous by the time our mains arrived. My husbands burger was just a basic burger, he was charged £2 for one slice of cheese on the burger (wow!), my chicken - 3 small pieces of dry chicken, mushy sweet potatoes, bunch of oily leaves. It was a young guy who brought our food out, not sure why the waitress who served us didn't. We asked for more drinks.. 15 minutes pass, still no drinks. My husband had to, again, fetch some service. The place was fairly busy, although I still saw one or two empty tables. The people behind us were offered a free cocktail for their order being messed up. I saw people waiting who gave up and left. Another table of men offered some free drinks as they'd had a long wait. We couldn't bare it any longer, so dessert was a no-go. My husband (AGAIN) had to fetch some service just to get the bill. No apology for the waiting. I can hardly believe the place was so busy considering the awful service (or lack thereof), the over priced food, and the sour faces from the waiting staff. I feel the doors should have been closed to more customers since they were already struggling with the customers already there. I'd wanted to try this place for a while. We are hugely disappointed. Oh, and I'm clearly pregnant yet twice was brought over an alcoholic drink we didn't order! Such a let down and unfortunately, we...

I don't think it's ever a good idea to have lunch when you are not feeling 100% However, friends had booked a table and I was looking forward to catching up with them. We arrived somewhat early but our table was already prepared and the front of house staff gave us a warm welcome. Starters were portioned appropriately: The chicken tempura and the prawn starters were deliciously prepared with thinly sliced red chilli to cut the oil content; perhaps they used sparkling mineral water in the batter to give it that light and crispy texture. The lamb tagine was probably a shoulder cut and had benefited from a long slow cook. It was served with couscous and pita bread. The Caesar salad was fresh and the dressing seasoning was on the money. Just a small observation, I thought the chicken was slightly dry. The cocktails were sumptuous and my friend waxed eloquent about who and how they were made. The mixologist cocktail maker knows his onions.. or at least his cocktails, for sure! The Chilean Merlot was decent but would possibly improve with a few more years in the bottle.. but we couldn't wait that long! The staff were excellent and constantly on the move without being intrusive. My friend had recommended the pollo Milanese but I opted for those listed above. However, that is an intriguing incentive to return to ...

If you have to choose one restaurant to visit in Ayrshire, visit here. 5 star food, service, and ambiance for a reasonable price. My wife and I came here for a celebratory dinner having never been, but having visited Lido's sister restaurant in Prestwick. We were greeted and seated by a friendly gentleman before being seen to by our waitress. A lovely woman who I unfortunately didn't get the name of (Nikki maybe, as I think she had a necklace that read that). She was very friendly and gave us plenty of time to choose and order. The menu was so extensive and tasty looking that even my wife (who is quite a picky eater) had trouble deciding between different items. I admit I had trouble too. Our waitress helped me pick my main which was the Rosemary half Chicken, and what a choice it was. All the food came out in good time, looked freshly made, and tasted absolutely amazing. We could not fault a single thing. You can see from the pictures how great everything looked. The service remained great throughout our visit and the staff all looked happy to be there. I went to the bathroom before leaving and they were spotless, and looked newly done out too. We seriously could not fault a thing about this restaurant. Seriously, everyone should experience it. Recommend you book though as it was...

Came for our first evening meal on Monday and had our last evening meal today (sunday), Monday was great and didn't think it would get better, Sunday it was busy (6pm) and service was great not waiting long at all, the food we weren't waiting long either, our server Steph superb, even thou busy there was always time for her to stop check if we wanted anything, when paying was asked if all had been ok, how long we were stopping, if we had enjoyed Troon, to me being asked questions means I'm not just a table I'm a person and to me this is important and having 30yr plus in the hospitality industry its important. Thanx Lido and Steph for making our stay with you tonight njoyable Julian
