I ordered a takeaway for myself and my partner just after 5pm to be picked up for 6.30pm. I picked it up at 6.30pm and I drove home (15 mins away). We were extremely disappointed to find every component of the meal, only vaguely warm and the pakora and onion bhaji’s with no crisp at all. It seemed as if they had been sitting for over an hour. The mixed pakora was chewy chicken with bits of onion bhaji and no vegetables. The bhaji seemed to be a scoop of small bits from the bottom of the fryer and one supersized bhaji – no good for sharing. The samosa was good but cold. The curries were disappointing too unfortunately. We have been to the restaurant before for a sit down family curry and we all enjoyed ourselves enormously. That was a couple of years ago. Has there been a change of ownership/management/chef which can explain such a huge dip in the quality of the...
Read moreIt's our first time ordering from Moonlight, as we've just moved into the area (loving it, by the way!).
We're very happy that Turriff has a decent Indian restaurant. The curries all tasted distinctly different and they dared to offer spicy hot dishes! We have often been disappointed because curry houses seem to think that nobody likes challengingly hot curries!
Naga Lamb Vindaloo was spicy and nicely balanced between flavour and chilli. I'm sure they could make it a lot hotter of you wanted that! On the mild side, the "Aamm" Curry (mango-based) was a new and lovely flavour which we will have again and Chicken Korma was good but with a little too much coconut for us.
We're looking forward to trying other dishes from their interesting-looking menu; quite a lot of unusual dishes, to us anyway....
Read moreMy family, friends, and I have been to this small but great restaurant dozens of times. Some family friends even coming over from other towns just because they fancy an Indian meal. With a wide variety of dishes on offer, including several Chef Specials, we are spoiled for choice. And when you just can't choose from the extensive menu, there's also a buffet on offer for the "bit of this, bit of that" customers. They also do takeaways from the main restaurant and from their other establishment Cinnamon At Home. The owner is one of the most pleasant people you could ever hope to meet. I have never had a bad word to say about any single one of my experiences at the Moonlight Tandoori, and will be visiting for many years to come. P.S. they're generous...
