I have just had a birthday treat - lunch at the Grill with a friend to celebrate becoming an OAP! This cafe has stunning views.....I mean really stunning views, looking out across the Spey Valley to the surrounding mountains. Add to this a roaring log burner that is faithfully stoked with local wood, and you have a lovely warm cafe where you are guaranteed to have warm and friendly service and good food. There is plenty of space to make yourself comfortable and the staff are attentive without being pressurising. You won't leave here hungry as the portions are plate sized and the prices are reasonable. :) This cafe caters to a broad range of people, passing lorry drivers, the time rich, youngsters, the elderly and families - it is both pet and child friendly. As my friend says 'they do real chips here, not those tiny little sticks you get in some places'. Yes, the chips are substantial, the ham lean and my eggs fried just how I like. Afters of apple crumble, cream and ice cream with a plentiful choice of drinks, hot, cold, alcoholic and otherwise. This gem of a place is faithfully staffed by an international group of women, all ages working together as a team that understands how to create value and bring good old fashioned cooking and a warm welcome, at a reasonable price to travellers in the Scottish Highlands. They are doing a grand job which is why they are so popular. Make sure you include them on your itinerary if you plan to visit Badenoch and...

Newtonmore grill Sorry but.. The following statement is NO exaggeration... Ok. Mince and veg?? Yeah nice mince but hardly any veg (looked like 1 carrot a few peas and dry mash) and where's the gravy?? No gravy and it's dry!! How much worse can it get?? Well loads.. So you like a pizza? What about haggis on ya pizza? Sounds good? NOOOOO! I mean the haggis is nice but the pizza was not.. who on earth would use bright orange cheese on a pizza and it's the cheap plastic cheese too, ug.. that's just bad and horrible. So like something to drink? Oh no? oh yes. Hmmmm banana milkshake nice and refreshing? NOOOOO cheap stuff again like the cheese... although the orange juice was ok (tropicana) can't really go wrong there... lol. We normally have afters but having the mains and a quick trip to the toilet kinda put pay to...

My partner and I visited here going southbound, first time we tried due to Ralia being closed. Let's be honest, it's a motor grill designed for lorry drivers. It's run down, old and you can tell. However... Food was amazing, the staff member (cannot remember her name, but she was eastern European I think) was so friendly and couldn't of done more to help us.

Toilets looked horrible but they were clean and smelled so as well! Shower facilities available for a small price too.

We will definitely be returning, for the food only though, the coffee wasn't great. It came from a vending type machine behind the counter and tasted weak, for coffee we will just pop into Ralia on our way back to the A9 if it is open.

Hopefully the coffee can be improved. Thanks for the good...

Couldn't find anywhere to eat in Aviemore on a Wednesday evening so continued our drive south, saw this truck stop diner on Google and headed over. The staff were friendly, as were the other patrons. We got 2 burgers and drinks, which were grilled quickly but not too quickly. Indoor seating is American diner style booths, and there are picnic benches outside with glorious views of the hills. Despite being a small-ish diner they have a surprisingly good number of food and drink choices. Not exactly fine dining, but better than any service station burger I've had in the past, would definitely recommend it if you're passing through.

Friendly staff, affordable hearty food - you can't go wrong! No frills exterior reminded me somewhat of the trucker stops along highways in the US and Canada. We stopped by for dinner on our way to a campsite, the menu has many different meals for adults and kids, the establishment is also dog-friendly and they were happy to cook a couple of sausages for our dog. We had the beef pie and mash and lasagne and chips along with dessert: jam sponge and custard and chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. All delicious, home cooked feeling. We ordered a haggis pizza to take back to our campsite and that too was awesome! Highly recommend.

The most nostalgic, heart warming, lovely little pit stop that I always look forward to visiting. Been going here since birth, and is always a treat for my family and I to stop in for a quick pot of tea, a filling lunch and sometimes a wee milkshake. The menu is simple and effective serving pies, pizzas, burgers and breakfasts. The staff are always friendly and the tables are always clean. I love this place and will always hold it close in my heart. Thank you for all the amazing meals over the years and I’m looking forward to my next visit! Cheers :)
