The food was wonderful, unfortunately the service was not. On a cold evening, no one offered to take our coats , we asked and on collecting them found them dumped on a chair. My daughter described the type of red wine she liked and asked for a recommendation from the menu. The waitress said she didn’t drink so didn’t know, she made no attempts to find someone who did. When we did get our drinks they were wrong twice. The restaurant has an extensive menu but we had to ask twice for extra time to read it. On paying, my husband was told his card hadn’t swiped and the waiter put the machine back down before leaving .it was all very, take it or leave it.. As I said the food is excellent but expensive, it would however be worth it with better service. In reply to The reply, the waitress seemed so confused to be asked to take coats that the rest of us sat on ours. Why , in winter, is the coat rack in a cold corridor? My husband is disabled so he had to lean over plants and the counter to access the machine. It didn’t work because it was upside down. The initial response was for the man to slam it down in the holder and flounce off leaving my husband standing there. A waitress got the machine and handed it to him to insert the card. With regards to the wine , it is an Italian restaurant and my daughter asked for a wine comparable to Valpolicella , not a sommelier level question. Not the evening out we had hoped for on a special occasion. My post on Facebook was much milder than this , merely asking for other reviews in case we had got them on a bad down, it was mysteriously taken down...
Read moreSo disappointed with my visit to Nonna Gina’s for lunch with friends today. We were served by a young lady who couldn’t have shown less interest in us. We are still waiting for condiments asked politely for & my friend was replied to in a brusque manner when she asked again for the water she’d ordered. This was rudely done across the restaurant! We were at no time asked if we’d like a drink & were left with our finished main course plates in front of us for a very long time. I had to go to the till & ask for our bill. The two young men who saw us out were at least well mannered & cheery. I’ve been a customer of Pavone Sud & Nonna Ginas for years & indeed have met family members in Italy. There’s no way I could recommend the restaurant after todays experience- very sad for the family who’ve put their hearts & souls into serving good food in a pleasant happy atmosphere. I...
Read moreWe visited here tonight for a friends birthday. There were eight of us including one gluten free and one vegetarian. The menu had a reasonable choice of veggie dishes with a specialist GF menu. We all ordered and our dishes began to appear - I (vegetarian) waited and still waited- my choice was nothing special simply soup! Eventually it came. Again with the mains including the GF - they all came out and I was left sitting. This time the wait was not quite so long. Had the restaurant been very busy I could have understood but it wasn 't. The two girls who were serving us did do adequately although one seemed to have lost her sense of humour. The food was hot and tasty enough but the atmosphere and service was somewhat lacking - I dont think I'll be...
