Ordered the 10.99 for two menu, peas were stone cold, haddock was nice but small, chips were frozen chips so not much to go wrong second dish Balmoral chicken menu said two chicken breast but only one served sliced in half and mashed potatoes dry and not edible. update: customer service contacted me and offered a voucher to compensate, returned to see if it had improved but sadly it was very much the same, a long wait for cold food and similar to first experience, menu states chicken breasts (plural) and sadly again one cut in half and a small one at that ! fish was definitely a lot smaller than all the other plates that were being served around us. Sadly no improvement!!

Ordered the award winning steak and rudders ale pie. It was some experience, I haven't had a steak so soft before.. I just hope these weren't bought in. For a starter I went for the haggis fritters, which where lovely. The batter being a little greasy, maybe oil needing redone in the morning. Anyway, today a different selection and loved every bit.

Our local restaurant which we use very often... Very disappointed with my past 2 visits! Tonight I booked a table for 2, we ordered 2 starters & 2 mains - The starters came out and the waiter asked if we want the mains out at this point aswell (obviously not, hence its called a starteršŸ™„)... So we had to rush our starters because we knew our mains were also ready in the kitchen at this point... When the main meals came out immediately after we finished starters, (as expected), they weren't very warm at all - but we didn't bother complaining - to be fair, the food it's self was lovely.. However, I had ordered and paid for peppercorn sauce with mine... The wee dish literally had the smallest amount inside (which was also cold!) , honestly, the dish was hardly even a quarter full !! ... So I asked the waiter if I could have more than that... So he went to the kitchen and brought me out another dish of the peppercorn sauce and said 'you actually need to pay for this, is that ok?', I told him it wasn't OK because the 1st one had hardly anything in it so I wouldn't have given more money for something I had already paid for... He told me it comes in sachets and again told me I couldn't have it unless I paid, eventually I had to tell him to forget it then, and he just walked away and took it away back to the kitchen. It was really awkward! Spending over Ā£50.00 on dinner and drinks and I'm refused a wee bit of extra sauce (infact, not even extra, just a proper amount in the 1st place would have been perfect!). The week before this, we waited 45 minutes for kids ice cream after once again spending over Ā£40.00 on food and drinks! - staff were far more occupied with the beer garden customers on the hot day that it was !

Disappointed...

I've been taking my Mum for 6-8 weeks now on and off, and we've always had great food that's excellent value for money. I particularly recommend the Fish and Chips if you're looking for something from the classic menu.

It's a nice layout in the Oystercatcher; good size and lots of room. You certainly won't feel hemmed in or claustrophobic. The indoor Conservatory area is particularly nice when the weather is pleasant, although to be fair I'd probably have been better mentioning that point on one of my earlier visits.

The atmosphere is laid back and pleasant, with all the staff being friendly and welcoming. Although we've been going for a couple of months, I did feel on my first visit (and subsequently) that everyone involved in our hospitality has treated us like they've known us as friends for years, which is lovely.

Nothing but positive comments to be written for everyone's service on our visits, but a particularly big Thank You to Katelyn in recent weeks, as she's been particularly attentive to our needs and provided us with 1st class Customer Service. Thank You Katelyn, you're a 🌟

The only downside I would mention is that there's currently a 12-8 kitchen opening hours limitation, due to a kitchen staff shortage which seems to be affecting lots of hospitality venues at present. It's a pity as the breakfast menu was particularly good when it was previously available for those of us who like a decent fry up (as a treat once in a...

Went as a spur of the moment with my mum.

We were intending to go to a competitors bar for food but last minute said we would try out Oystercatcher.

Walked in and noted the restaurant was very quiet.

We found a table and looked at the menu. We both decided to order the £8 curry Wednesday deal.

The person at the bar was extremely polite and helpful and was noted they asked for allergens which was good. I have a dairy allergy.

The order was processed efficiently and drinks were handed to me to return to my table.

Our food arrived about 12 minutes later which was fine. Polite table service from the other members of staff.

Sadly the food wasn't up to much.

I found my curry to be very basic and dry. It didn't feel moist and any curry sauce felt dry. The rice wasn't good quality either. It felt poor and clumped together like it been overcooked.

I paid to upgrade to add naan bread to my order and was disappointed with how small it was. It also was brick hard and felt as thin as the poppadom.

Sadly the food let down the visit.

I see a lot of automated responses from other reviews probably handled via a corporate head office.

Id only try again if I had some sort of gift voucher towards another purchase. You can message me on here.

Service was very good front of house just the back of house and food quality...
