We have visited this cafe many times. It is our go to place for an authentic Italian meal. Firstly, we love the ambience and feel of this place. It really feels like you are sitting in a cafe in Rome or Venice. You are surrounded by so many tempting Italian gourmet foods and wines of exceptional quality. We rarely leave without indulging ourselves in purchasing some. Secondly, the food is outstanding. It is freshly made according to your order. That necessarily means that you have to wait for it to be made, but the food would just not be so good if it was pre-prepared or sitting stewing in a pan for hours. The menu is not extensive. No jack of all trades here. What they do, they do really well. The fact that the food is made fresh and with quality ingredients means that even a simple spaghetti pomodoro is to die for! Plus the time taken simply allows you to acquaint yourself with the goodies on offer all around you! If you’re lucky the vegetarian home made lasagne will be on the menu. Thirdly, the wine is outstanding. The house wines and those on offer in the menu are simply delicious and good value. However the plethora of wines for sale all around allow you to experiment and not be constricted by those on the menu. The corkage charge is very reasonable. Fourthly, the cakes and desserts are just so good and tempting, that we have yet to be able to resist having a desert at any visit! Fifthly, the coffee is outstanding. The barista has dialled in the coffee to the machine expertly. No bitter tasting coffee here, just exquisitely smooth and flavoursome coffee. We like the fact that the americano comes as an espresso shot with a jug of hot water so you can tailor the coffee to your exact taste. Last but not least, the service is attentive and friendly. It is nice to frequent an establishment where the staff and owners recognise and acknowledge you, and if not too busy, find the time to chat to you. Top tip they have a special deal during the week for a pasta and a wine for a really good price. Best to check though as it...
Read moreExcellent italian cafe. Best in Glasgow by far! None of this “chain” feel and restricted times eg two hour slots. You can dine for as long as you like and the staff are lovely. The bad reviews are only because people have no patience to wait for their food and are used to chain restaurants like DiMaggios,Toni Macaroni and Pizza Hut etc which are basically fast food restaurants with crap plastic food. The people who are looking for bigger coffees have obvs never been to Italy because in Italy they serve coffees in small cups. Again people are used to large coffees from Starbucks or Costa where they serve coffees using mouldy coffee beans. Pane e Vino are not like this. They make their food from scratch with wholesome ingredients and use organic coffee beans for their coffees. In fact I have been all over Italy and I would say they serve some of the best coffee I have tasted. If there is a wait for food then it’s only because they are cooking the food and not microwaving it. This place is a top class authentic establishment and very typical of a cafe in Italy. The food is to die for and the wines including house wine are fantastic. They even do a pasta and wine deal for £20! I’m sorry but the people who leave the unjust reviews have no class because this is a hard working restaurant and they do not deserve to be slated. Keep up the good...
Read moreService, service, service.... no matter how many times the poor service I receive, I always go back to Pane Vino only to be disappointed again. Popped in on a whim whilst out a walk at lunchtime. Outside full bar one table, 2 gents sitting inside so not overly busy. Recently refurbished so unsure of ordering etiquette and eventually asked by a girl in the deli part if she could help. Said I wanted to order food to take away to which she replied "order at the other counter and there's a bit of a queue". Turned round to order and was then ignored by 2 young servers who were going between the outside and the coffee machine constantly chatting and making no eye contact. I then decided I might treat myself and sit in as one table left outside. Completely ignor and stood like a spare part so walked out. General attitude over a queue for food and others working there avoiding eye contact is just unacceptable . I went and got food from elsewhere and won't rush back. Next door for coffee for me and friends meet up if anyone suggests a catch up . I clearly don't fit their...
