I have to leave a review immediately whilst I'm still buzzing! The first thing we were asked was if we had any dietary requirements or allergies (I mentioned I was vegan), which I've never witnessed at a restaurant before, so that was nice. The interior is lovely and welcoming, small but spacious.
We started off with some olives and sun dried tomatoes to nibble on; both delicious, and quite big portions. My parents had the salmon fillet and the venison casserole (with fries) and I had the Mediterranean vegetables with potatoes (and a side salad). We were all blown away with how good it all was. Steaming hot and delicious. I'd been asked if I wanted any parmesan or mozzarella on mine to which I declined, though when I was eating I thought I found (and tasted) a few bits of mozzarella, but that may have just been me being hypervigilant, and I wasn't going to enquire about it because I don't like to be a pain.
Dessert wise my parents had chocolate orange torte with ice cream, and a scoop of mint choc chip ice cream. There was some vegan vanilla ice cream available but I thought I'd ask about the sorbet since sorbet is normally vegan. I was informed that it may contain traces of other things (since it's not made on site), so I had a scoop of blood orange sorbet. Holy moly. One of the best sorbets I've had. The single scoop of ice cream and sorbet were both a really decent size for a single scoop.
The bill came with some Fox's glacier mints (finally an after dinner mint at a restaurant that I can eat!). All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the place as a whole is really accommodating for vegans (and other dietary needs). If you're vegan, you've got lots of choice! Highly recommend! I'd be back if I'm ever in the area again.

Read moreWe made an advance booking for a table at Peets. On arriving we found that the vegetarian options on the menu were extremely limited. We ordered one of only two vegetarian starters, tomato soup at £7. After ordering we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for the starters to arrive. During this excruciatingly long wait the restaurant had no problem sending the watresses to our table to serve us drinks and more drinks to keep increasing the bill (that's how they get you). When the soup finally arrived it was barely lukewarm. When we informed the staff, instead of providing fresh hot soup they merely took back the cold soup and stuck it in a microwave. The soup tasted like it had come out of a can too. We then waited another 30 minutes after the starters for the main meals to arrive. I had selected a halloumi burger at £15 again from a grand total of two vegetarian main meal options. When it came it was somewhat rubbery and tasteless. We spent a total of 3 hours and 15 minutes in the restaurant to have a three course meal that turned into a very expensive and very mediocre dining experience. I’m going to be generous and give two stars because the waitresses were polite and the...
Read morePeet's sadly didn't meet our expectations we had for a good Highlands resturant.
The resturant, while pretty simple in its decor, seemed clean och homely. The food was decent, but not great. One of our courses seemed a bit too light, and could have done with some more potatoes and vegetables to be more filling. Our other course, while filling, seemed to be almost totally unseasoned. None of the food seemed to be worth the 20-25£ pricetag. The service also left things to be desired. The amount of time we had to wait before our order was taken, and then the time we had to wait before our food was served was way too long seeing that the restaurant was half-full. When our food arrived it was served to the wrong table and then taken back to the kitchen for a couple of minutes. (On top of that i was also promised some condiments that never arrived, a small thing, sure, but in the grand scheme of things it was a bit annoying). Finally we never got the actual bill after asking for it, and after waiting around for a while we made our way to the front of the restaurant to get...
