Poppy's was a delightful surprise for my wife and I when we popped in for a quick lunch yesterday, (Saturday 23rd August). A small but bright and cheerful cafe with welcoming staff as soon as you walk in. We both opted for the baked potatoe with cheese and homemade coleslaw and a pot of tea for two. The tea was refreshingly well brewed and could be poured immediately, unlike some establishments where you either have to stir the pot or wait ages for it to brew. Served in a good sized pot and with adequately sized teacups to match. There are more than enough condiments etc on the tables, including, (very clean) cutlery and napkins. So there's no need to ask the very busy staff! The baked potato was served with a fantastic homemade coleslaw, (highly recommended!) a generous portion of grated cheese and delicious dressed salad and dorito style crisps. Making for a more than adequate and very affordable lunch. The staff were pleasant, cheerful and helpful from the off, and gave us a cheery bye bye as we left with a lovely soft ice cream cone to finish off. Poppy's Coffee shop is more than just your average coffee shop, it's a delightful small eaterie that the owner, (Poppy?) the staff and indeed the residents of Golspie must be proud of. If you're in the area, I'd highly...
Read moreI was very disappointed with my visit to Poppyâs Cafe in Golspie. The rolls served had mould on them, and the soup was thin, watery, and lacking flavour. There was no food safety certificate visible, which raised serious concerns about hygiene standards. Even more worrying, the waitress kept touching her hair while serving food, which is extremely unhygienic. These issues made the whole experience uncomfortable and unappetizing. With so many better options available in Golspie, I canât recommend this place. Until basic food safety and cleanliness are addressed, itâs best to avoid Poppyâs...
Read moreWe visited Poppy's on Sat 21st May 2022 and had great coffee and toasted scones. We came back on Tues 24th for breakfast (good, though I prefer links to be cooked to a crisp on the outside) and returned for a sandwich at the end of our walk. Although it was almost 3.30pm and they close at 4pm, they made us really fresh sandwiches (tuna and apple, prawn Marie Rose) and more of their great coffee. Driving past about 1.30pm today (25th) we noticed it was closed, when we thought they opened 7 days a week. But enjoy if you...
