First time in Roo's Kitchen. Ordered lunch and coffee. The coffee was served way too hot which unfortunately burnt the coffee grounds and affected the taste. Pancakes and bacon with maple syrup was expensive for the size of the portion. The menu stated that pancakes were "fluffy" but they were rather doughy and undercooked. I'm sure if I had said they would have replaced but my wife was on limited time and I didn't want to cause a bother as it was busy with only two staff members. The bacon was lovely and crisp though. Perhaps a bigger portion of maple syrup would be nice and another slice of bacon as I was still hungry. We did buy a cream biscuit cake item to take away which was very very bland and had very little flavour. That was very expensive at £3.50. My wife's haggis and cheese toastie looked flawless though and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
The decor is really nice and fresh. It was very loud and busy with people which is usually a great thing for a business but for someone with ASD it was overwhelming. The bell for the door was very very loud and the door slams shut which made me jump alot. This could be mitigated if there was perhaps a quieter time, so if you have sensory issues I'd advise enquiring about when the less busy periods are.
The most redeeming feature was the staff. Very friendly and chatty and take time with each customer even though it was busy every customer was treated with the same cheery manner.
It's definitely going to be worth another visit and I will go back at a...
Read moreWhat a place! It's a really good spot for breakfast whether you're local or stopping on the way through.
The location is ideal as it's very close to a main street and usually good nearby on street parking. The restaurant itself is clean and contemporary. It's not cramped so you'll have space and feel comfortable. The atmosphere is relaxed. Certainly family friendly as it feels like a local family business.
The menu leaves you spoiled for choice. It's not overwhelming but certainly a few good choices for all tastes and preferences. When your food comes you certainly won't be disappointed. As if that wasn't enough there are freshly prepared treats and cakes on show as well.
Staff also make you feel very welcome. They are pleasant and never too far away when you need them.
Overall well, well worth a visit. Very good value and high quality leaves it hard...
Read moreA regular customer for breakfast mainly, but I was a little late to ordering afternoon teas for Mother’s Day (I’ll be more organised in future). Amy was apologetic but as they were fully booked, they just couldn’t accommodate me on this occasion. Then on the morning of Mother’s Day, Amy messaged to offer a cancelled order, she remembered I was looking! Sadly due to time constraints and pick up, I couldn’t take it but I’m so thankful for the business practices of this establishment. They really seem to care about their customers, not just for money, but as individuals, and this is so refreshing. I will consistently take my custom to this small independent business, they are so deserving of success, they truly work so hard. And, the food and service are always top notch, award...
