Curt, unfriendly and dismissive attitude from the snappy 'you'll have to let me clear the table before you sit' and grudging response to asking for a specific bakery piece, 'I''ll have to dismantle the tower to get to it', and the waitress openly rolling her eyes in delivering drinks as if going out her way to do us a favour, then lying when denying this later (why would I invent that?). Didn't raise at serving point because it was my mother's last day here and didn't want to upset her but it ruined the vibe, so thanks a lot for that. Judging by other replies, no doubt they'll come back with a patronising and snooty response, e.g. 'passive aggressive' customer and have absolutely nothing to learn from these experiences, or unwilling to acknowedge any issues on their part. No genuine apology, offer of a discount etc, the anger I felt was palpable and I'll be firmly warding other vistors off from this Establishment. In retrospect, should have turned around to take the service elsewhere, I'll take that one on the chin. The cafe up the road is far friendlier and less surly and toffee-nosed.
Postscript: The most risible response I've seen. It was the younger waitress who rolled her eyes and had the attitude problem, the one who delivered the cakes, you topped it off with your dimissive response 'why did you come in then' after I had told you about similar reviews of surly service I'd read while IN the cafe. Judging by your laughable attempt to write this off owing to 'mental' issues shows what a mean-spirited proprietor you are. No acknowedgement of the curt response on wanting a specific piece of bakery, the cold, unfriendly welcome and snidiness from the younger waitress. By spreading the word about your establishment, I've succeeded in dissuading a good number of people from visiting...
Read moreIn response to Peannie McPhee, I am one of the 'two guys' supposedly being flirted with by a staff member a couple of weeks ago. We are regular customers who have built up a lovely relationship with Jess, Kate and Amanda over a couple of years now and always look forward to our visits, especially on account of the warm friendly welcome! On this particular occasion, Kate was merely wishing me a happy recent 70th birthday and yes, we were having a wee laugh about being an 'oldie'. If Mrs Phee found that either irritating or offensive in any way then that was down to us and not the staff. As far as the food offering at the Sundial is concerned, the quality of produce is always very high, the coffee is excellent and the prices are extremely comparable with chain coffee shops and cafes around the area. Both Brexit and Covid have pushed prices up in all areas of consumerism - it's just a fact that we all have to accept. I have no hesitation in giving the Sundial a 5-star rating and will continue to be a loyal customer until I'm too old and unable to climb the stairs!! Keep doing what you do girls, you all...
