Eaten here quite a few times, always as a large family group. Great location and good food. Would advise caution when making larger bookings though due to our experience this past Sunday. Many weeks ago, booked a table for 10 for a family birthday meal and happily paid the £50 (£5/person) deposit as fully understood why this can be necessary these days. Unfortunately, the birthday girl had to cut short her weekend away in Fife and return to D&G with her side of the family due to her brother who has a terminal illness, taking a serious turn for the worse. My daughter, who'd made the booking and paid the deposit called The Ship Inn Sunday morning as soon as she heard the news, explaining that the remaining 4 of us would still come and dine there. She was told that at least 7 would have to come otherwise the deposit would be lost. Further explaining that she wasn't just making some excuse to get out of coming, that it was a serious development and given these circumstance, asked if perhaps the deposit could be transferred to a voucher to be used at a future date but again was refused point blank. After many happy family times at The Ship Inn over the past few years, we all felt so disappointed with the complete lack of compassion from the staff members attitude and due to this will never be able to go back. From the birthday girl's perspective, missing the meal and returning home to her brother was absolutely the correct decision as he sadly passed...

My wife and I had an evening meal here and also our first time visiting. Good menu to choose from and the quality of the food did not disappoint. The haggis and black pudding croquettes were amazing, steak pie tasted as its described on the menu and i was VERY surprised at the dessert - whiskey and ginger cheesecake, a combination i was hesitant of but tasted amazing definitely one of the best i've had. Staff were welcoming and polite, clean facilities and i also liked the history about the venue displayed on the walls with photographs etc. Great value for money with a decent size portion, excellent tasting food and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, definitely worthy of a 5 star review from...

First and definitely our last time here, I was really looking forward to visiting here on positive reviews, a decent looking menu and a friend’s recommendation.

Negatives- 1 Possibly a new chef that struggled to know the difference between cooking a fillet of steak medium rare and burnt, honestly it was so bad I was surprised they even had a chef. When the waitress told us the chef sent his apologies I thought what level he could possibly be. 2, Feels like they use very cheap ingredients as everything was so bland. 3, we were first in and had to wait 45 minutes.

So so poor and I hope they can commit to upping the quality.

Positives - Maybe the old...

I came to this pub on route to the airport after a wedding with my friends today. This pub is amazing. The staff were absolutely lovely as well. The food came piping hot, the batter was absolutely perfect on the fish and chips. I wish I could go here regularly. Best pub food I've ever had hands down! Do not hesitate in coming here. Can't wait to visit Scotland again so I can return!

Cracking little pub. Just sits on the river forth not far from Rosyth. Food was amazing, visited with family last Sunday booked in advance. The staff were ever so friendly and welcoming. Prices were very reasonable and the food was delicious. The main menu never gave a lot of choices but the haddock and the steak pie were enjoyed by all. Definitely would recommend 👍

On the waterfront the Ship inn is a friendly pub and a great stop off for walkers. The sunsets here on a good day are amazing there is seating outside to enjoy a pint and the views. The food is nice I had a trio of fishcakes. One had a dash of chorizo in it which was lovely and now I use the same trick at home!
