The cafe sits on the first floor of the store but after climbing the stairs I'm afraid it was all down hill from there. I wanted the haddock and chips but was informed by the grumpy woman at the counter that they'd used up the daily quota of swimmers. Apparently the cafe is allocated only five fish per day (that's three more than Jesus had and he managed to spread them around fairly well). Macaroni? None. So I settled for a small plate of bland chicken strips. Just as I was about to get stuck into these delights a guy appeared with a large and dirty motorised floor-cleaning machine and parked it right at my table - with the engine still running - while he wandered off to god knows where. I assume he worked in Tesco and wasn't just some random fellow who'd popped in from the street. Next, a female cleaner arrived and began brushing/mopping around my feet while I was gnawing my way through the chicken strips. I could go on but I won't as I'm even boring myself with this sorry tale. Needless to say, from now on I'll be dining at Morrisons, which if nothing else, provides a much better standard...
Read moreOrdered ham and cheese toasties. I was told we would need to wait 20 mins. I asked if I could have our hot drinks served at the same time. The girl on the till asked us to come back up when the food arrived, as she would probably forget. We finally got our toasties and went up to get the hot drinks. By this time there was a long queue with one girl serving. She continued to serve the queue and we waited a further 20 mins before we finally got our drinks. We then discovered that only one side of the toasties had been toasted. It was very difficult to find a seat as most of the tables had not been cleared. Why Tesco in Kilmarnock don't put a trolley to allow customers to take their trays back like other their stores is beyond me It needs more staff on at busy times such as weekends and more training for those preparing meals. I agree with previous reviews, the staff don't seem...
Read moreAs a visitor to this cafe in Kilmarnock I was very disappointed, I ordered a focaccia for lunch. We waited about 20 mins for it to be delivered when it did come it was so hard I failed to get the knife through it. Took it back to the counter and said that no way can I get my teeth through that . To add insult to that I was told that's how they came in. No I replied that it had been in a microwave for too long. I've been a catering manager with Sodexo for many years so I know that it did not come in like that. I asked for a sandwich even that was not cut in two . Just two slices of bread with filling ,did get a millionaire shortbread as compensation. Can I suggest you go to Tesco in Ayr they will show you how it's done. Always well presented no long wait to get it and...
