We had lunch from the value lunch menu (£9.95). The food was very good and we thought it was excellent value for money. I had the salt beef sandwich with fries, my wife had the ham & cheddar sandwich with fries, and my daughter the smoked salmon sandwich with a bowl of broccoli soup (this tasted waaaay better than it sounded or looked!). The fries were really good and required no seasoning; hot, crisp, properly salted, and plenty of them. All the sandwiches were very tasty, with a good balance of ingredients, and all came with coleslaw and a small, dressed salad. Both servers were very attentive and pleasant, and had the right balance of intervention when taking and placing orders, and then clearing the table afterwards. My wife uses a wheelchair, so I had phoned ahead to make sure accessibility wasn't an issue and to book the table (recommended). I'm pleased to say there were no accessibility issues at all getting to the table. And in fact another group of wheelchair users came in while we were dining, highlighting the ease of accessibility. One small issue was the entrance to the disabled toilet, which my wife found partially blocked by chairs stored near the door. This made maneuvering her chair a bit more difficult than it needed to be. We hadn't realised it was possible to eat outside until after we'd left, spotting the outside dining area as we passed by. It would have been good to have this option as we'd have taken it given how nice the weather was. There is a council pay car park right next to the restaurant, so parking isn't a problem. The disabled spaces - which we used - are free to use (there are lowered kerbs to facilitate wheelchair use). The other spaces are fairly cheap with it being a council controlled car park. All in all, we had a very good dining experience and will definitely...
Read moreExtremely disappointing!
I used to be a regular to the Longhouse, taking my family for both lunch and evening meals, however…..
Over recent times both the quality and quantity of food has hit new lows, it genuinely pains me to write this review as this once fantastic restaurant continues to disappoint.
Unsure of who the chef is but they really need to have a word with themselves putting out food like that.
In August I went for brunch and got eggs with bacon and avocado on sourdough bread, I’m attaching a pic for reference, I had eaten a little bit of the tomato but the rest was as it came. This plate is a small plate, not even the size of my hand to give you an idea of size and the sourdough was soo thin it was almost see through.
Decided to give it another go today (12th Feb 24) to see if it had improved , took the family with me and got ham and cheese ciabatta, once again I have attached a photo for reference.
Had to send it back to ask the chef to actually put some ham in the thing.
Even after it came back it was very poor quality. I have had better sandwiches from garages on the motorway. The other meals were mediocre at best.
I used my benefit card to pay to take some credit off it as I won’t be back.
More than happy to speak with Buzzworks if they want to get in touch.
I replied to the survey last time this happened and got no response hence doing a review on here this time.
I hope you sort things out, it would be a shame to lose what was a great restaurant...
Read moreMy wife & i spontaneously decided to go somewhere different for lunch last Sat so decided to (eventually) give the Long House a try. Pro's; Its a nicely decorated inside, the staff were friendly enough (Deputy manager is a lovely guy, known him for a vast many years from different establishments), the food was decent, the £12 special for 2 main courses was a fair price to pay.
Con's; we were £14 for 2 average desserts (cheesecake & tablet Sundae) also i felt the tables were much too close together for personal privacy/enjoyment.
We were unfortunate to be sat next to a group of middle/upper aged women, some who were deliberately very rude (even though there were quite a few UNreserved tables next to us) that firstly took offence to the waiter asking them kindly to move their jackets/coats that they'd strewn across the seating at our table, then carried on quite obnoxiously & intentionally with raised voices throughout their time there, obviously still feeling annoyed at being asked to kindly move their garments...
All in all it was all round a pleasant experience but i personally feel it is definitely middle of the road, been to far worse &...
