A small group of us recently spent a long weekend in Earlsferry in celebration of a 40th birthday. The 19th Hole had good reviews and was only a 5 minute walk away. It didn't disappoint ! The staff were very friendly and efficient, especially Courtney, with service being prompt. The food was excellent and due to the cooking area being behind a glass partition, we had a perfect view of Michelle ( the chef ) working superbly creating her dishes in what turned out to be an extremely busy and full night. At the end of our evening Michelle came round to us and gave us all a shot of Tequila Rose, having heard we were celebrating a 40th. We decided to go back for dinner the next night and therefore booked a table beforehand. We attended for dinner and were delighted to find we had been given the same table and it had been decorated for us ! Michelle, being a joint owner, acknowledged us when we came in and this time Owen was particularily outstanding. The food was delicious. At the end of our night Michelle spent some time just talking to us which we felt was a very lovely, friendly gesture. It is advisable to book ahead when dining here and we are looking for another excuse to return here in the future

Went for lunch as had been recommended. Starter was nice, however we both got chicken burgers, and both were burnt. Ate two bites, as did my wife. Had to leave them. Explained this to the waitress, but did not seem to care. At £54.00 for 2 Soft drinks, 2 starters and 2 burgers, you would think the establishment would care more. I won't be back and suggest anyone else thinking of eating here. Think twice.

Fantastic pub with the most friendly and accommodating staff. We were on a hen party and they could not do enough for us. They have a fantastic private dining room and the food was superb. We had our heart set on the Mac & cheese and it wasnt on the menu when we got there but they still went above & beyond and cooked it for us!! Thanks for a great day, can't wait to come back with my family x

*Don’t bother to book this place on busy weekends as your booking will not be honoured. Don’t try to get a professional explanation or an apology from the childish and stroppy female front of house manager. It’s not possible, we’ve tried. We attend this bar several times within a 2 week holiday. Bank holiday weekend:- we thought we’d better book and did so early that day, requesting a table, no bar stool seats please, (as this is impossible in this venue with 2 dogs). We had a call back from them hours later, with a confused message. They told us to come in 15 minutes early to get our order in before a party of 16 arrived, and that we would definitely have a table, not bar stools. We rushed to get there (walking). When we (3 adults/2 dogs) arrived on time, there was a young girl at the end of the bar making coffee. We stood next to her, she looked at us several times, but didn’t acknowledge us, she didn’t smile, she didn’t say hello, or ‘I’ll be with you in a minute’. She just ignored us for around 10 minutes. Eventually she said, “can I help you?”. We said we had booked and she pointed at bar stools. The place was crammed full. We said that was not what we booked. An older woman came over, and as I tried to explain what we had talked about on the phone when booking , she continually interrupted me. She kept making different excuses as to why we had bar stools and then told us we could wait until another table had finished eating. She pointed to a group who had just finished their main course. We waited but the group then ordered dessert! I tried to talk to her again about this and about waiting longer, and she pointed out that we could wait even longer, but that the table was reserved for another party within the hour! Basically this restaurant had tried to cram as many covers in, as short a time scale as they could and just weren’t bothered that we were being squeezed into a very tight slot. We had intended a 3 course celebration dinner with our daughter. The worst of it was this staff members attitude. If she had simply admitted that they had given our table away and apologised for it, that would have at least been professional. She was incredibly unprofessional, spinning the explanation of what happened in as many convoluted ways she could think of, over and over and not allowing me to finish a sentence. She caused an embarrassment to our young daughter and to everyone around us. At one point she suggested that she would personally drive us down to The Ship Inn to eat! We already knew The Ship was fully booked. We left, which I’m sure suited...

Mehhh Were really hungry and got a table about 5pm. We ordered immediately after seeing the specials, ordered haddock mornay. Food came in a reasonable time, many times tried to get waitresses attention to order wine but at least 5 times she walked past eyes down. Sadly, being sat next to the kitchen we had to listen to the chef and staff absolutely slating other employees (loudly) Food came and within 30 seconds were asked if we were happy, we never had a chance to even taste it. Potatoes were hard, vegetables soggy and inedible. We tried to get said waitresses attention to raise this issue but for the rest of time were completely ignored. You would think that two thirds of our plate being left might have raised a question. When came to paying bill, same uncommunicative, eyes down taking your money. Very unharmonious team work. Left pissing ourselves laughing at what was a really bad experience. Ching...
