Went today for lunch with my husband,3 year old and 1 year old. High chairs were provided. There is a covered outside area with heating and the waitresses offered blankets as the breeze picked up.

We had oysters as a starter which was beautiful and they were presented on a plate of ice with samphire that I nibbled on as well.

Toddler had Mac n cheese with a slice of garlic bread, he was full from his portion. My husband help him eat it and stole a bite, saying it was very delicious and extra cheesy.

Husband had a fresh brown crab with French fries and a pea/samphire/spring onion salad in the crab shell with a mayo sauce on the side. Delicious and fresh. We both joined in to find the last bits of meat on the shell and it was a good sized portion.

I had the beer battered fish with chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. I was full before I finished my chips and the tartar sauce was beautiful. The fish was light and the batter was cooked perfectly.

The view is amazing and inside is cozy. There are table benches outside. A car park next to the building and a grass area off to the side near the beach for children to run around on or to rest ones self as we did on returning from our bike ride.

Very lovely waiting staff and must go to restaurant if you have time...

So disappointed with our visit the other day. We have always had lovely meals in the past. To be fair the Cullen skink starter was lovely, no complaints apart from the £14.00 price(which I think is excessive) I ordered seafood linguini at £25.00 the squid and baby octopus were inedible (like a rubber toy) and there were only 5 mussels so serving one that hadn't opened up properly is a disgrace when you advertise as a 'high end' seafood restaurant . My fiancee had the ginger beer battered haddock, which wasn't the best, batter was too thick and stodgy, the fish quality wasn't the best. I did complain to the waitress and she agreed the squid and octopus were over done and asked if I would like anything else and said they wouldn't charge me for the dish. All in all felt we very let down after a special journey there for lunch. If you advertise as a seafood restaurant and have high end prices it should be high quality and well cooked...

The build up here is as tectonic as the San Andreas. Sadly, there's nothing to really shake you about. The meals here range from the reasonable to the disastrous. The fish dishes are all basically agreeable, but with more technical faults than a beta version of that app you're unwelcomely addicted to. Fish is a little overcooked and diminutive for the price, and dry risotto piled up like field mound. The Kim chi is better not attempted, and the portion adding insult to injury. The desserts are a serious breach of trust. The cheesecake is as bizarre as a marvel movie adaptation of Little Women. The crust is tragically miscast as Robert Downey Jr in the lead role. The filling is an afterthought that needs a rewrite. The local ice cream is a bewilderingly thin concoction of milk and sugar...and thats as kindly as i can put it. The drinks are good, as is the service. The coffee adds a terminal fill to the grave of a...

Disappointing. Used to be excellent! My previous trip was a couple of years ago and everything about the Boathouse was excellent. Came back in July 2021 and was bitterly disappointed. Under new ownership and with a Michelin star I was expecting another seafood feast. Weather was fabulous. Busy and seemed a good job we had booked a table. Sadly the scallop starter was a poor start. Two small scallops and a few peas. An expensive £4 per scallop. Little taste. Just poor. The main course was no better. Expensive. And finished the meal feeling hungry. Not sure what the Michelin star was for, as there was no evidence of anything special. Cant wait to go back to Gigha. But there are much better places than the Boathouse to eat on the mainland. Good for a drink, but don't recommend the food anymore...
