Review of Brig & Barrell Belhaven for a 75th Birthday Celebration
âââââ
We recently celebrated our grandfatherâs 75th birthday at Brig & Barrell in Belhaven, and it was an unforgettable experience for our family of six across three generations! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm atmosphere that felt both welcoming and festiveâperfect for such a momentous occasion.
Ambiance: The decor strikes a wonderful balance between modern chic and cozy charm, making it suitable for all ages. The lighting was just right for a celebratory dinner, creating a lovely backdrop for our family photos.
Service: Our server was fantastic! They were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. .
Food: Now, letâs talk about the star of the showâthe food! Each dish was a delight, and it was evident that everything was prepared with care. We ordered a mix of appetizers, mains, and desserts to share, and every single item was a hit.
Mains: From the succulent roast to the vegetarian options, each dish was bursting with flavor. Grandaughter loved the fish special, which was fresh and beautifully presented. The kids devoured their goujons, and the adults were thrilled with their steak and salad dishes. Every plate was cleaned!
Desserts: We couldnât resist trying a few desserts, and they were the perfect ending to our meal. The sticky toffee pudding was rich and decadent.
Overall Experience: Brig & Barrell truly made our grandfatherâs 75th birthday a memorable occasion. The combination of delicious food, impeccable service, and a warm atmosphere created a wonderful experience for our family. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and memories to cherish for years to come.
If youâre looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion with family, look no further. We canât recommend Brig & Barrell highly enoughâthank you for making our celebration so special! Weâll...
Read moreWe ate here last week whilst visiting Dunbar. Itâs located beside the Belhaven Brewery and a short walk from Belhaven Caravan Park. Booking is advised as we had called in for a drink the previous day when walking into Dunbar - on hindsight I wished we hadnât. The starters were poor (Cheesy Garlic Ciabatta which needed more toasting to colour the anaemic cheese topping and a Spicy Prawn Cocktail served in a childâs small school drink tumbler - I found 4 pieces of 1.5cm square lettuce hidden at the bottom, the smallest prawns ever and 2 decent sized spicy prawns on top - the sauce was OK but overall it was underwhelming). The mains were simply awful (Beef Chilli and Cheese Fries - my wife had to query whether it was actual beef mince or quorn as it was anaemic and had no flavour, my Fish and Chips were were equally bad - thin grey fish with thick soggy batter, well done on the outside, which I had to peel off as it was 1/4â thick in places and thin frozen fries which were crispy - Iâd asked for well done - but tasteless). The bill with 2 rounds of drinks was almost ÂŁ70. In conclusion, totally substandard and not worth the money. We were there on our last visit a year ago and I had the Scampi which was equally average. Canât recommend the place at all for food but the staff are excellent and deserve the opportunity to serve better quality food. We wonât be visiting again when we come back next year and eat out elsewhere. Such a pity as the pub has character and has a prime location for those staying at the...
Read moreMy husband and I were staying at our holiday lodge in cockburnspath and wanted to go for dinner after arriving through from Glasgow. We were lucky and got a good parking space but itâs on a wee hill so be aware if you have mobility issues. You have 2 steps down to front door and your met with a very warm welcome, pub was jumping and had a fantastic atmosphere, but we had booked outside due to us having our Springer with us,you can book for inside but it was to busy for our pooch. First-you have steep concrete steps down into the outside dining/pub area,I have a bad hip and found it a real challenge,I did notice another entrance at the back so Iâd ask on booking if you have issues,itâs been thoughtfully laid out with heat lamps at the tables, the menu is a bit limited on GF options,we would have liked to see fish /chicken in a GF batter or breadcrumb, but a thumbs up for the GF buns and willingness to get the info for my husband, could not do enough to help. We shared a nachos which was really lovely and fresh accompaniments, could have been spicier (Personal taste). The Mexican burger and my salmon fish cake special was really lovely and very filling. Staff were really attentive & friendly. Will return for inside food and to experience...
