The view is spectacular and food excellent, great value for money. It just lacks professionalism when the staff are standing about gossiping and consequently are inattentive and slow. But a comfortable good experience in delightful surroundings. Then a second visit confirmed. The food was good, brought low by the sheer numbers of inattentive staff standing in groups chattering away to each other and ignoring customers. Our table and the two next to us fought to catch the eye of any member of staff. Aside from the serving staff, there were more staff members in dark suits hiding in the corridor chatting to each other. I have never seen such an over staffed, inattentive restaurant. Hence the low satisfaction rating.

Visiting from Cheshire, we decided to find somewhere special for the last night and we luckily got a table at The Orangery 🍊 based at the sea mill hydro hotel on the seafront Wow! From the second we arrived until we left we loved it. Amazing food! So much flavour and done to perfection, one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time (and we eat out at least a couple of times a week) Our sever (Meredith) was really friendly and chatty and made our visit perfect Starters Crab bruschetta Scallops Main Sea bass with tiger prawns and sourdough Salmon fillet Desert Cheeseboard Lemon posset Can’t wait for our next staycation this will definitely be on our list

Hands down the best food I have eaten all year! Absolutely blown away by the flavours, variety of options and the set up of the venue. The decor is sophisticated whilst allow you to enjoy the outdoors from the safety of inside. Full page in the menu for Gluten Free as well as plant based meals. First resturant with many Gluten free desserts. The staff were so helpful. The food was pricey however best food 2022. The attention to detail really impressed me. From the personal welcome page in the menu to the plating of the food.

Worst experiance ever arrived at this hotel for a family reunion at the the restaurant starting with pre dinner drinks during which time a large window blind fell on one of our guests the staff just said sorry about that asked if she was ok  and needed any first aid offered a drink then removed the blind and carried on as if nothing happened and it was only after we questioned their attitudes did the manager approach us after some considerably time and took an accident report which he was annoyed by Then after that we moved to our dinner table and carried on with our evening my wife left the table to go to the restroom When she returned I was informed that in the waiters opinion she has had to much to drink and would not be served any more she had only had 3 wines over a reasonable time the third one was still sitting on our table i This was a family reunion with elderly family members some from scotland england and australia and new zealand We had three ladies 2 in their eighties and one in her ninties all of those people had the same amount of drink

I questioned the waiter and he said that in his opinion she had glazed look and could not find the restroom when questioned futher i asked if he assisted her and he said no i asked if she was annoying any other patrons and he said no I asked if she found the toilet and returned to our table ok and he said yes my wife suffers from mild vertigo so he has obviously made the wrong judgement eventually his manager came over i went over the same with him but all he would say was he back his staff member he did not approach my wife or our table to confirm this young waiter is correct all he wanted to quote his standard reply of his legal requirement his manner was smug and was pleased with himself

It was clear to all that this was an attack by your manager because my wife dared to question his attitude to the blind incident

I'm  sure your staff will have a different version of this as they value their employment but if you would like to contact anyone in our group they would be more than happy confirm this event My wife was so embarrassed she left the group and spent the evening in our room crying Thank your team so much for ruining our night

We have travelled extensively and have never been exposed to such unprofessional behaviour

We had just came from the Auchrannie resort in Arran where we stayed for 3 days this establishment was fabulous and staff professional and curtious at all times maybe you should send your manager and waiter there to learn something your Hotel was supposed to have been the climax of a wonderful time with our extended family from around the world

But your team have let...

Myself my boyfriend and our 2 friends attended the Seamill Hydro today for our dinner it was a lovely venue and atmosphere and the view was stunning. Unfortunately the staff and the service were not of the same standard. We were continuously let down firstly we had to ask three times for a drink order and when they eventually came over we decided to order dinner Aswell. After we ordered the waitress asked us to take the payment up front which we would have no problem with however she followed it up with “the reason being incase you run away” it then made us extremely uncomfortable and offended as no one around us was asked to do this. After our food arrived I had to repeatedly ask for cutlery and napkins as our food was outside and it was becoming cold. Every time I asked I was told it is table service and someone will be out soon. A wasp was then bothering us through out our meal which is no fault of the staff however the wasp went into one of our soft drinks and was floating so we politely asked for a fresh drink and she replied “I will need to check” then she returned 15 mins later with a card machine and no drink at this point we had finnished our meal so we politely said we don’t require the drink anymore. Despite the waitress knowing we were finished our meal as she seen our stacked plates and ignored them, nothing was taken for the next 20 minutes. My boyfriend had to remove the plates himself to an empty table as it was attracting wasps. We were told at the start of the meal we would get a receipt at the end of the meal before we leave so we then asked for the receipt and she told us she cannot give us one unless we give her an exact list of what we ordered for the second time. We were then told the manager could do it however we were still left sitting for another 10 minutes. She then came over and put the receipt down without so much of a word and walked away. We were enjoying the sunset and the atmosphere from the wedding next door but the service from the restaurant was absolutely shocking and highly let us down to what we expected from such a lovely venue. This experience has unfortunately put us...

We wanted to give our friend an unforgettable experience for his birthday and chose lunch at the renowed Seamill Hydro. We certainly did receive the unforgettable experience but for all the wrong reasons!

The food is good but the staff are clueless and have no idea how to provide good customer service.

  1. Had to wait 15 minutes to order our starters and mains. For our desserts, we had to ask for the desserts menu and then had to ask again to order.

  2. After each course our cutlery was taken away but not replaced. So food arrived but we had no cutlery to eat it. Had to ask for cutlery.

  3. Empty glasses were left on the table. At one point there were so many empty glasses there was no room for our food. We had to ask for the empty glasses to be taken away.

  4. One member of our party ordered the Vegan tofu ramen noodles. When it arrived it had no tofu!! We raised it with the Manager? (guy in a suit) who then had to speak to the chef and on his return he advised that they had no tofu (supply problem!) so decided to substitute the tofu with cauliflower!

We were not advised at the time we ordered that they had no tofu and also was not asked if cauliflower would be an acceptable alternative. Pretty shocking when restaurants have to be very careful with people with allergies.

What really summed up our whole experience was the response by the Manager when he advised my friend there was no tofu. His response to my friend was "what do you want to do"?!! And with no apology offered.

  1. The restaurant was not short staffed. In fact, some of the staff had time to gather in corners to have a chat and a laugh, whilst the staff that were not work shy were running around trying to serve customers. The Manager was no where to be seen!

Clearly the staff at this restaurant have not had any training in basic customer service and any desire to provide an acceptable customer experience.

Whilst the food was good, the customer service was so poor we will not be back and certainly would not recommend The...
