Disappointingly gone downhill. 2 years ago I wrote: "Dog-friendly, great food, fast service. We will be back." We have been back several times since then and have been very happy with everything each time. This is the reason we chose to go today for Fathers Day. This was a mistake . The first thing to say is that we were not greeted as we arrived (always had been in the past). We were not shown to a table (as we had been before). Then, the table had not been cleaned (a member of staff half cleared it but we had to do the rest ourselves) and table service had ceased to be so we had to go to the counter to order. We ordered: 2 smoked ham, cheddar and tomato sandwiches on brown seeded bread and 2 roast vegeatbles, humus and mozzarella sandwiches on white bread. After waiting well over half an hour, we received 2 sandwiches with cheap processed ham, cheap processed cheese and no tomatoes in our sandwiches and one of the roasted veg sandwiches was on brown (not white bread as requested). It was so disappointing since the standard of service and food had been so high before. We usually come as a treat as we expected to pay high prices but this time we felt quite ripped off by both service and food. It was a disappointing Fathers Day experience, I'm...

Update. June 2024 Have visited several times since our first visit. This time, a new focal point. The old "counter" has gone and the replacement is not only a brilliant idea but absolutely stunning. Unique is a vastly over-used AND mis-used word but this must surely qualify. The new added photo says it all. Service and drinks were wonderful, as usual. A pleasure to go to even given our 70 mile round trip.

Our first visit to this excellent establishment and certainly not our last. Wonderful location on the harbour. Seating out front, in the courtyard and inside. We only had coffee on this occasion and it was superb. The menu looked most enticing and we will be having lunch next time. Friendly and efficient staff. Thoroughly recommended....

We went in this lovey little cafe for a coffee after a good bike ride along the coastline. It is very friendly and kind. We asked to put the bikes somewhere safe and they obliged. We had two coffees well all I can say is the coffee is the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the UK and Scotland. I have a sage coffee machine at home I never seem to get the same coffee out and about that, I do at home. Put this little café I did have the same coffee that I get a home outstanding cup of coffee with friendly people can’t ask for a better place to stop and have a...

This place surprised us! We always thought they only had outdoor seating at the front (in the shade), but it appears you can also sit outside (in the sun) beyond the archway (and upstairs indoors, but we haven't been there yet). They are very dog friendly (Holly got a bowl of fresh water and a treat 😋). The food was good, and the staff very friendly and helpful. They even took the time to take our photo ❤️. Can recommend this place to anyone visiting Portsoy 😊👍

Very expensive. We had coffees, soup and sandwiches. I would say the coffee and the soup is worth the money because of the size. The sandwiches were a small roll with not much filling for the pulled pork ones, the beef one had a good amount of filling but still small for the price. The big bonus for me is that they are dog friendly. Not many places in the area are. The atmosphere is lovely and so are the staff but I won't be returning because of the prices.
