First time trying the richmond. We had the 3 course set menu. For starter i had turkey noodle soup and my wife had the volcano chicken my soup was nice and my wife loved her wings i tried them and the flavour was good but not spicy at all. Main course i had orange chicken and my wife had beef and black bean the orange chicken was really nice but the black bean was a little bland and myself and my wife thought the beef was really tough it came with large serving of fried rice the rice was nothing different from any fried rice i have had. We also ordered a side of chips they were ok and we both had a soft drink each. We paid £61 but we did notice there was a 10% service charge first time i have I've had this dont see the point paying a service charge when dining in the prices are already higher than takeaway prices. Thats why i never left a tip as there was a service charge.

I haven't eaten here since I was a teenager, with my parents, and decided to go here for my 5 year anniversary with my partner, recently. The atmosphere is romantic, peaceful and feels that you are eating somewhere special. Staff are polite, and serve food promptly. Food was brilliant. We had chicken noodle soup, ribs, then our main courses of chicken satay, and sweet and sour chicken, and everything was of high quality. Place attracts both couples and families. Seems it is popular for special occasions like big birthdays and anniversaries, as a family was celebrating a 60th, and another family were doing a birthday cake as well at another table, so highly recommend.

Down from Aberdeen to visit family and popped in for a bite to eat. So pleased we did as the service, staff, food and atmosphere were all first class. Can't recommend it enough. This will definately be our new go to place to eat when ever we are down.

This place came highly recommended, but it did not deliver. We went with family to celebrate a birthday and duly booked a table (online) for 6 in advance. We arrived on time to be met by a grumpy employee who glared at us from behind her glass screen. Another waitress appeared and asked table for 4? We told her we had a booking for 6 which seemed to be a surprise. She never checked a diary, booking system etc (we booked via quandoo so presumably they should check their system) and told us the table's not ready and to go sit in the waiting area which had all the ambience of a morgue. We asked if it would be long and were told there's people still at the table. They could have been honest and just admitted they hadn't reserved the table but made no apology, handed us menus and left. While we waited, they took our drinks order - no fanta, no rose wine by the glass left (only by the bottle), no kopparbergs cider, no tomato juice, no low alcohol beer. It seemed like someone forgot to do the bar order this week. We were told they only had rose wine by the bottle left. To rescue a rapidly deteriorating customer service experience, they could have opened a bottle and served a glass of wine surely? Eventually (after 30mins), we got a table and our drinks albeit only 2 out of the 6 of us got our first choice of drinks. Around 7.40pm, 40mins after we arrived, someone took our food order. My other half asked for another beer - out of luck again, the bottled beer he just had was apparently the last one. We could see the takeaway orders flying out the kitchen to the waiting delivery drivers. Just not to our table. At 8pm, there was still no sign of our food or staff who had any interest in serving us. Considering a party of 6 adults were about to spend a considerable amount, they were completely disinterested and we felt disinclined to spend our hardearned cash on such indifferent service. We decided we had had enough and told a waitress to cancel our order as we were leaving. She, again, was not interested and didn't even respond. We left and phoned a takeaway from our local chinese restaurant instead and had delicious fresh food in 20mins at home. I can't comment on the richmond food since we never saw any. Not even a miserable prawn cracker was offered. The only positive I could really offer was that the tablecloth, napkins and silverware were clean.

It seemed like all the focus was on takeaway orders rather than the customers dining in. I suspect this place has become complacent having been established in EK so long but we were unimpressed and will not darken their door again. There are plenty of other places around that don't make their customers feel like an...

Went for dinner on Sunday. I'd been keen to try this place as it looked good & always relatively busy. We were in time for the pre-theatre so ordered from this as it seemed like decent value. The menu itself lets it down. Neither starters or mains have any explanation of what things are so unless you're familiar with their particular offerings, you would have no clue what you were ordering unless you asked. I did have to ask what a "curry puff" is (as a starter) and what another couple of mains were, which clearly annoyed/stressed the waitress, but she explained as best she could so that was fine-ish. The curry puff is basically their poor answer to a samosa; best described as curry mush wrapped in a triangle shaped filo pastry parcel & deep fried. Horrible. Salt & chilli wings; can't go wrong really. The drinks were terrible; diet cola so dilute it looked like weak tea. The mains came with a generous portion of rice but that's the only positive sadly. The lemongrass in the red Thai curry was so overpowering it tasted like creamy washing up liquid. The shredded chicken whatever it was, was just not good. Had they asked, we'd have told them but they were too busy attending to a large birthday party to come back to us obviously. They never even asked or gave time for us to mention this when they came to clear our still-quite-full plates. To top that, our after dinner coffees were served with gone-off cream which immediately split when poured into my hot drink. They immediately offered a replacement when I got up to approach them, but obviously I'd been very put off by that time and declined. This was apparently the end of the matter for them! No further offer of compensation & immediately started dealing with another customer indicating she had no intention of further discussion. We will never be back & I suggest that if you'd like to be sure of what you're eating and that it's been cooked with fresh ingredients, you...
