Food and atmosphere fab. Wait time was very bad and once our food came 45minutes after we ordered!- the waitress attempted to give our full Scottish breakfasts to the table next to us one of whom had also ordered full English but as I noted we had been there twenty mins longer... His wife had ordered a butty and our full English x 2 had no eggs as we requested. Once we got the food we was impressed with taste however waitress didn't ask if we wanted sauce or come back to ask if it was all OK or if we needed another drink. We called in to this place on the way to denure castle from Ayr. I would go again but I'd hope to not wait as long. I appreciate it's busy on a Sunday morning but it felt we was forgotten... Even a large group. Who came in after us got thier burgers and fries before my full Scottish. Maybe service breakfast only until 12. So chef isn't having to make burgers etc at 11.15am. I still left a 10% tip As the waitress made a mistake which was retrified and we all Do this so I didn't want her to feel awful. Wait time was...
Read moreArrived at 10.30am. After being seated, the wait staff asked what we wanted to order after only looking at the menu for 1 minute, so we asked for a few more minutes. We ordered poached eggs, French toast, and children's waffles with drinks. The drinks were delivered immediately. WIt staff brought adult sized cutlery, including a huge knife for a 3 year old! Food arrived at 11.15 more than 30 minutes later. No reason was given as to why we waited so long or an apology. It didn't look that busy, and most were having only drinks. The food was quite nice but not very hot. Could have done with another coffee after waiting so long for food. But left as soon as we could as we felt unwelcome. Why else would we have been treated so poorly. In addition, another group of diners were seated behind me. The seating is very squashed together, and the back of the chairs were touching, so I was knocked throughout eating my breakfast. Sadly, it was an unpleasant...
Read moreThe Secret Garden provides a great atmosphere to enjoy a coffee or tea outside. I visited for some lunch and sat in the outdoor area with dogs and beautiful wildlife. Despite a short drizzle of rain I still managed to stay dry under the canopy. I ordered the Cajun chicken panini and chips with a large coffee, which is always my go to at a cafe. The portion sizes were good however I did not enjoy the panini at all. The chicken inside was an odd blended texture. I expected chicken breast chunks instead as every other cafe serves it this way. The panini roll was also an interesting choice with plenty of crunch to it but not to my taste. I decided to order some cakes as I was really enjoying the atmosphere but again I wasn't overly impressed with them. I shared a biscoff slice and mars bar cripsy. The cake was a little dry and the crispy was lacking in crisps and a bit stale. Overall I would recommend for the lovely atmosphere and coffee but perhaps...
