Such a wonderful find in this beautiful town!

A bit off the main path which makes it more niche. Can reserve ahead of time but we were able to be seated no problem without. 2 adults and 1 kid. Kid's menu available which was great. He loved his grilled cheese. There is a daily menu which changes day to day, many salads and sweets. I had the quiche with a melange of salads on the side - one was a curry flavored potato/pasta salad which was phenomenal. I still can taste it. Husband had a smoked salmon stack which he LOVED.

Was heady to the Salty Dog, but asked a gift shop owner and he recommended here. What a find. Although it says Bistro they do a good range of cakes. Scone was nice, I don'tike scones warmed, it was no hassle to change the warmed scone to a cold one, caramel cake was moist and tasty. Took a custard cream slice away, which was different. Tea and coffee good £14 dross. Nice decor, two ladies working were lovely. We were only people in as it was half an hour to close but we felt at ease in the place. Menu looked good. I discovered the Smiddy when we moved to Lochgilphead in 2017. I have returned time and again. They never cease to amaze me with the quality of the food and the service. They are also excellent at dealing with food intolerances and allergies.

Today, both my friend and I have dairy issues. She was able to get a Cullen Skink (fish soup) without cream and I was able to get a mushroom omelette with vegan cheese. This makes eating out a treat.
