First visit to your Pub. Had intended to go to 'The Gables' (the Pines)but website said no bookings Mon/Tues. Web search for telephone number showed a mobile, which I thought strange. Dialled number 07 but turns out it is a private number answered by a tired sounding young lady who immediately said happens all the time as number is wrong and local pub been told lots of times to no avail. However got correct number and dialled to ask situation re booking table or just turn up. Went to answer machine, left message asking for return call. At time of writing this email, almost 10pm, still had no call back. Decided earlier to try another of your pubs, 'The Windmill' and booked a table for 6.15pm/
Young lass behind bar looked as though she wanted to be elsewhere, didn't really listen to my drinks request order. Wanted 'full fat' Coke, no ice plus a soda (you had no tonic water)and black current juice. Tasted coke after sitting down, didn't taste as it should as after taste in mouth. Back to bar and asked if it was normal as tasted like sugar free. turns out it was coke zero, not what I asked for. You don't have normal coke on tap so was given small bottle instead and she walked away. no glass, no straw! My wife went to bar to order food She came back as there were no burgers and no rump steak. Change of order to sirloin steak, diane sauce, plus an extra portion of chips (not a double up) a house salad with chicken and portion of sweet potato fries. Pub wasn't very busy. Sirloin wasn't cooked medium rare, dry and not the most tender. Still waiting for my extra portion of chips (which I managed without). Didn't complain as not wanting another fuss. however no dessert or coffee ordered and went toi pay bill. I had vouchers from you as we had joined your reward program and was able to use the 25% off (for my upcoming birthday?) but couldn't use a free welcome drink voucher as only one voucher can be exchanged at a time apparently? My pint of coke was charged for but not small bottle of coke, perhaps they are the same price?
Sorry to say, but not the best start to using your pubs,...
Read moreHaving eaten in the hunters Lodge in whitly Bay which was really nice from the service to the food and everything in between, this sizzler branch simply cannot Compare. We arrived and the staff were efficient enough without being friendly with little to zero chat when seating us. I ordered at the bar for 4 of us and the server was friendly enough, although it was up to me to initiate any kind of conversation between us. I sat back down to realise that there was a promotion on for the kids that would have saved us a bit of money that would have got the kids drinks and ice cream but nothing was said at the time when ordering. The server wasn't busy so I can't see why she wouldn't be looking to advertise the offers that would save the customer money and ultimately make me want to come back. She did offer to upsell me sides but we weren't interested. The food came really, really quickly. We got the large hunters chicken advertised as topped with cheddar cheese. The chicken was cooked (white in the middle) but cold to taste and touch, chips were undercooked (hard/still frozen) and the cheese was cheese slices rather than actual cheddar cheese as advertised. The burger was fine for my partner however the chips on both the children's plates and my partners plates were undercooked again. The children's burger was possibly the most dry burger I have ever seen. When the meals arrived the waitress simply put the plates down and left. Although fine, there was just no level of customer service whatsoever. Overall when I get food that isn't up to scratch, I would send it back to be changed but on this occasion, given that all the food was bellow par, I did not feel that I would have received anything better than I got. The place was reasonably priced but well bellow what I would expect a sizzler pub to be given how good the one in...
