A Truly Thoughtful Experience at The Woodend

I recently had the privilege of attending a funeral reception at The Woodend, and I cannot speak highly enough of the service and the meal provided. During a time of sorrow, the team at The Woodend went above and beyond to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that was both comforting and respectful.

The two-course meal was exceptional. Every dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, with generous portions that were both satisfying and delicious. The choices offered were perfect for the occasion—balanced, fresh, and comforting, with a perfect blend of flavors that provided a sense of ease in what was a difficult time.

Beyond the food, the staff were incredibly attentive and considerate, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. They made sure all guests were well cared for, and their kindness truly helped ease the atmosphere of the day.

It’s clear that The Woodend takes pride in not only the quality of their meals but also in creating a space where people feel supported and valued. I can’t recommend them highly enough for any event, particularly those of a more sensitive nature. Ordered a coke,diet coke and a shandy (all good). Starters were ok not warm and not home made,(forgot the breaded mushrooms) Took 25 mins to come. Main meals were Fillet steak steakpie and hunters chicken 20 mins again passed then we were informed no fillet, so I ordered chicken fajitas again 45 mins passed our dinner came with no chips cold onion rings (stale reheats) the hunters chichen was cold and over cooked the steak pie was full of dough and again cold with cold reheated chips(not cooked right) the carrots were black not fresh and to top it all the chicken fajitas were cold and dried out the wraps were micowaved to long so cardboard would tasted better all in all a very bad experience. I have been here many times before and it was always great I asked if they had changed the chef to be told he doesn't start till 14:00 hours. My QUESTION IS WHO THE HELL WAS IN...

I was a bit doubtful about the ratings that some people put on here. I had the pakora starter followed with steak pie and chips with veg, and a coke for a drink, pakora was really nice with a crispy outside and soft in the middle with a little spice.chips were amazing steak pie was excellent with nice pieces of succulent steak, the gravy was full of flavour and the peas and carrots which were also nice, had my doubts at the start but after tasting the food myself I would recommend the food to anyone, price was as expected from the two starter menu.
