So in my opinion, gone downhill. As a regular attender at the Glasgow West End restaurant pre 2012, we then occasionally attended the restaurant in Calderwood East Kilbride.
Motivated by the move near to us in Hairmyres we attended regularly with friends and family.
We always stated it wasnāt fancy but was always a good family restaurant .
All that changed. In recent years, the beer change from Moretti to Peroni which was somewhat acceptable but disappointing.
Then the house red Montepulciano changed from fairly decent to something comparable to drinking fermented grape juice through clay.
We attended 12 months ago and clearly had the vegan ice cream served with the spoon as the dairy and despite our protests they argued this not to be the case. We only asked for honesty and acceptance but we were met with hostility and arrogance.
About 3 months ago I ordered home delivery pizza and we were delivered a focaccia bread with some sporadic sauce and vegetables in the centre 3 inches of the pizza dough (if thatās what it was).
Tonight we tried a restaurant attendance again and the Rosemary and Sea Salt Focaccia is now served with crusts full of semi raw dough and little seasoning. Sent it back and had similar replacement. It was taken off our bill but I go there to eat not to complain.
Our childs pizza arrived but had no ham or pineapple. Returned and sorted but also came back with undercooked dough crusts.
Mains came and they were acceptable pasta but lacking flavour. Ordered puddings. Well I ordered treacle toffee pudding, but Iād argue there was not a Date in sight. Treacle stodgy sponge with toffee drizzle. Absolute garbage. Partners dessert was a Chiacchiere which is more a serving platter dessert for 3 with the same toffee dip as that drizzled of over the treacle sponge.
Weāre done. Have our standards changed? Or their standards dropped. I think the former.
Having recently discussed TM with a new Italian member to our family they politely said they were at best an American Italian restaurant.
We respect that assessment but our years of attendance have noticed a dramatic drop in standards.
Thatās our last attendance. No offers (not that there ever are any for regulars) will attract us back.. I honestly would rather attend Harvester for a pre-packed microwave pasta meal.
Ā£75 for that meal. I spent the same in the Black Isle Brewery pub in Inverness and had a 5 pints of quality beer, 5 mulled ciders and 2 pizzas with pear, blue cheese, garlic and walnuts.
Much better quality pizza from a Scottish brewery company?
This review is not a knee jerk reaction. It is about giving the benefit of doubt over several years, being loyal and letting disappointing nights pass us by.
However by now we have spent thousands in TM over the years.
Weāre at an end.
I hope you read this review TM and consider a menu and chef revamp and stop feeding your customers garbage at inflated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited the East Kilbride restaurant for dinner on a Thursday. Whilst the food was nice enough, the service was very poor and, to add insult to injury, a service charge is added to your bill.
I always tip between 10-20% when the service warrants it but on this occasion, there was no way I was paying what is actually a discretionary service charge anyway.
Upon arrival, we were seated in a booth within which, one side of the seats was soiled with ice-cream or something, which nobody had bothered to clean.
Whilst the staff were pleasant enough, the wait for our starters and mains was too long. The focaccia with rosemary, sea salt and olive oil showed no signs of the latter two ingredients and we had to ask for olive oil as a result.
Basics like 'enjoy your meal' and check-backs to ensure everything was to our satisfaction were missing throughout. No parmesan cheese or pepper was offered to my wife who ordered a pasta dish and I had to ask for cutlery for our mains. No offer of condiments was forthcoming for my meal either and overall, I felt like the staff were disinterested.
Several members of staff walked by our empty glasses and plates on numerous occasions, seemingly oblivious to what constitutes good service and even when we ordered ice-cream for our daughter, it took far too long to arrive.
Overall, I can only think that by automatically applying a service charge to the bill, there is a lack of motivation to actually earn that gratuity which, most likely, most people pay regardless of the service.
Whilst the food was nice enough, there's too many negatives for us to want to return to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've never recieved such abominable service anywhere else and it has happened repeatedly here! As I work nearby I have tried coming for lunch, but if I do so I am often late back from my lunch hour due to slow service. However, this is not a patch on my latest evening experience for a collegues leaving do, where we were stuck in a corner and essentially forgotten about. I tried to order a glass of wine, but when it arrived it had lipstick on the glass so I requested a fresh one. However the waiter who left with this request, was seen removing his apron and presumably finishing his shift so after 20 mins trying to get the attention of another staff member I enquired if they could help. After 10 more mins they didn't return. I then enquired with a third waiter and was brought rose wine when I'd ordered white so then had to wait subsequent time for another replacement. So after 4 waiters, over half an hour, and after my meal had arrived I recieved my glass of wine with no apology whatsover. This really put a dampner of the start of the evening and subsequent service to the table was very poor as others wanted to order further drinks. I will definelty never return here and if I could have given it minus stars I would have. If you like waiting around and being ignored for distictively average food - this place is for you. However, if you have an ounce of common sense avoid. p.s. I forgot to include the time they served my collegue raw...
