Been here a few times in past years and was nice, nothing great, but decent. Went here last week and I won't be back. Waited 10 mins to be acknowledged on waiting to be seated, staff were at the bar right in front and couldn't even say oh we will be with u soon, just left standing there like idiots. Finally the older blonde woman comes over and she couldn't have been less welcoming, dour face, no smiles, zero customer service skills. All the tables outside were manky also. The menu is ridiculously over priced! £17.50 for a lamb shank, with chive mash and broccoli...comes out in a bowl lol, no broccoli, instead the worst looking frozen mixed veg I've ever seen, also partner doesn't like peas and carrots, he wanted the broccoli as listed on menu 🤷‍♀️ mash was dry and not a chive in sight, my partner was still starving after eating what he could. My sausage and mash was supposed to come with chive mash, onion chutney, and red cabbage, again dry mash, no chives, and no onion chutney, literally a plate with a dollop of dry mash, 3 sausages on top, and a dollop of red cabbage 🤷‍♀️ only the middle of the sausages were edible. The ends were solid, so much so they couldn't even be chewed. The serving staff were just as dour faced as the bar staff (minus the tall bald guy, he seemed nice although he didn't serve us). Cracked a wee joke with the larger made girl with the glasses and it was met with a blank stare. Honestly crap experience, and won't be returning. Sadly it won't change, as where they are situated, they will get different customers who will be trying them for the first time every day. Toilets were also manky, toilet roll everywhere, wet floors. Place had gone right down the pan. Popped over to Balloch House for a coffee and the staff were lovely 👌🩷 gr8 customer service, and even a nice friendly chat with thr bar tender who brought our...

I’ve been 4 times to the restaurant before and everything was great, the 5th time today the service was so bad that we will never return to this place again. As the restaurant area was fully booked we ( 2 adults and 2 kids under age of 3) were offered a place in the bar area which we gladly accepted as our 2.5 year old boy was hungry. We did not have a waitress coming to our table and needed to place the order at the bar and pay immediately which was fine but then we were waiting for our order: 2 club sandwiches and 1 fish and chips for over a 40 minutes which is totally unacceptable. In addition we asked the waitress how long is to wait for our order she just shouted from the distance that the order just being plated and rushed away, no apologies for waiting etc, after that we waited another 10 min to get the order, by that time the beans which came with our 2.5 year old fish and chips order were dried out. In the meal deal for the kids the desert also was included, so when we got the main meal I asked to bring the ice cream for our 2.5 yo right after we finish our main meal, in reality we were reminding the waitresses another 2 times and waited another 15 min to get the ice cream served. Again no apologies for waiting or inconveniences, I thought we at least deserved that. The food was ok but because of the horrible, rude service, never will be back again. Will tell all my friends about this experience. Also, want to mention the baby changing which was located in the Disabled toilet area, it was so stinky and dirty that I almost been sick when I tried to change the nappy of my younger baby. I think the management should pay attention to the toilet area and make sure it is fresh and clean...

Really disappointed with the lack of customer service. Called to ask to book for a table of 5 to be told don’t take bookings and to head over. Went and were told they couldn’t accommodate even although there was around 10 available tables. Spoke to I assume manager as he never introduced himself, he was rude and lied originally saying he had big bookings coming in. Advised why we were told we couldn’t book and he said something about when you call it goes through the hub and they don’t know how busy they are. I advised that’s their problem not the customer calling. He said you can wait for an hour and see if a table becomes available. Turns out after my husband speaking to him he’s short staffed nothing to do with being busy. This man was extremely unhelpful and the worst customer service I’ve experienced! Regarding your reply that is the first time you apologised, secondly your reply still doesn’t make sense. Your hub through your advertised website number advised us no bookings could be taken and your hub advised us to head down. Then you tell us you can’t accommodate us as you have bookings. You never made eye contact nor apology, you stated we could wait an hour after we suggested to be seated at the bar to see if a table becomes available. You advised you couldn’t guarantee one would. You were very unhelpful, not interested and rude. You will not see us again as you’ve put us off returning. Thankfully The Peir did and we had a lovely meal and will be...

The service was great, the place was busy so it took a while to get seen but cannot fault the staff. The food however wasn't great I got the 3 cheese and button mushroom bruchetta. It was toasted brown bread with melted cheese and mushrooms on top, it tasted okay but wasn't bruchetta. For my main I got the mushroom wellington sunday roast, this tasted amazing however it was advertised that it would come with bowls of parsnips and other veg and you would get unlimited roasties, Yorkshire puddings and gravy, it may have been busy but I wasn't offered any of these and by the time someone came around to see us all I wanted was dessert. I planned on getting the apple tart but there was none so I got the trio of mini desserts which came with an espresso brownie, strawberry daiquiri cheesecake and eton mess. The Eton mess was just cheap squshy cream with sauce on top, the brownie tasted as if it at been microwaved too long and the cheesecake tasted shop bought and the daiquiri sauce on top was horrific Considering the price I would have expected way better!

We were there for food only, not staying. The decor and atmosphere is lovely. Really liked it. The staff are friendly and efficient and looked after us well. The menu is good. We were there with our two kids (12 & 5). My husband had the duck breast with mango and thought it was lovely and refreshing, although he thought the duck was slightly overcooked - it wasn't pink at all - but still enjoyed it. My lamb rump was tasty enough but the lamb was chewy and definitely overcooked, the gravy was also overly thick (where I had to pull it out the gravy boat with my fork), but again still tasty enough and I ate it all. My 12 yo had the seafood pie and really enjoyed it - he did not like the side of veg though (which he'd normally eat) as I think they were overcooked again, or had been sitting in a Bain Marie for too long. I tried them and the veg were tasty but definitely overcooked - carrots had an almost rubberyness, and broccoli fell to mush in my mouth. My 5 yo had the kids fish and chips and loved the lot - looked like a really nice piece of fish.
