Just back from one of the worst meals I've ever had. Arrived at 5 and while it was busy, it wasn't full, but still took 20 minutes to come take our order. Was told it could take a while for our food as it was busy, but that was fine, was happy to wait and have a couple drinks, then the server came back twice to tell us what we'd ordered wasn't available (haggis fritters starter and roast beef (X2) for the Sunday roast. So we ordered a couple of changes (turkey substitute) and sat waiting. Half an hour later our starters arrived, which were nice so we didn't mind the wait too much. We then waited another 40 minutes for our main meals - the 'roast' was anything but. Frozen food reheated, the buttered greens were merely boiled broccoli, the roast glazed carrots again boiled, rock hard and no sign of a glaze. Roast potatoes like the bottom of a bag of frozen ones, chewy and hard. Yorkshire pudding frozen and rubbery and no sign of any stuffing. About about 8 slices of turkey with gravy which was way too thick. Just a horrible plate of food and nobody even bothered to ask how it was, the servers clearly knew and were embarrassed. The women's toilet was out of order, signposted to go to the accessible toilet, which was also out of order so had to use the baby change - which was absolutely stinking of baby poo (expected) but not very nice in an eatery having to use that. All in all an absolutely awful time, so disappointed as we've been many times in the past and couldn't fault it. Avoid on Sundays at all costs, and certainly don't order the Sunday roast.

2025 3rd visit this year. It appears The White Cart has a new team front and back of house tbh keeping 5*'s leaves for no room for improvement and today there were some issues and i guess most would downgrade the stars, however not a chance with me. The manager and one other server were on shift and I guess the kitchen was stretched, so there was 20/30 minutes delay to table again not an issue as my guests and I are never in a rush at The White Cart. I spoke with the manager and he told me there was almost no pre-bookings as such the staffing level on bar/service and kitchen was arranged accordingly. I kinda was adding to the strain on the staff as I never book ahead i mostly do walk-in. Every issue was rectified while onsight completely, I totally got the situation. The manager saw the post lunch footfall as a people carrier size of diners booked , then a coach load of walk-ins arrive in a constant stream ( my party on top🤪). That's stepping up...... 5*'s all day long. I didn't get any names but I'll add them on my next visit. And let's face it you never really know how adaptable a hospitality venue is until there are minor issues, that if not address can snowball. Really impressive reactive live, adjustments to the dynamic fluidity of today's visit. Gr8 work . .I've been visiting The White Cart since I moved to Scotland in 2014, I've moved away from Busby, but 4 or 5 times a year, I fetch back , and this is always on my itinerary. Love it.

Lovely table outside in the sunshine. Good covid measures in situ. Ordering was quick enough but due to it being so busy we had a little wait for the food but in nice surroundings it was no problem.. 3 mains of all American chicken burger with fries and onion rings, Vegetable salad halloumi bowl with new potatoes and luxury mac n'cheese with garlic bread and 2 diet cokes and 1 soda water and lime. We perused the dessert menu and I had choice of 3 scoops of sorbet/yoghurt/ice cream, friends had 3 scoops of chocolate Belgian waffle ice cream and 1 bramley apple pie with cream. Yummy and very welcome in the bright sunshine.. The food was absolutely delicious and tasty. There were no complaints from any of us at all. This was another Greene King pub and after being in another of their business premises recently I can honestly say that this establishment was top notch...

Service non-existent when dining during a very quiet evening. After ordering 2 drinks at the bar, we then read the menu at our table before returning to the bar to order 2 main courses. After waiting about 15 minutes we had to ask when our 2 drinks were coming (which the waiter said he would chase up, with no apology or any sense of urgency or awareness of lack customer service or satisfaction) & we waited a further 5 minutes before they arrived, by which time our meals had been delivered. I was very disappointed at the portion size, especially the mashed potato, which was much smaller than a child’s portion. We had to ask for cutlery, salt & vinegar while our meal sat getting cold & no-one came back to ask how we were enjoying our meal, or take our empty plates away, or ask if we wanted a dessert, which resulted in us having to go back to the bar to ask for desserts, only to be told the kitchen closed 5 minutes ago, despite us finishing our main course at least 20 minutes earlier & being the only diners & no staff awareness or initiative to remind us or take our desserts order with plenty of time before the kitchen closed. All the waiter kept saying was “no worries” which is very infuriating ‘woke’ speak, nor did they say thanks or goodnight when we left. We’ve been dining at the White Cart for many years, but the new young staff don’t seem to have the customer service skills or even basic self-awareness of their total lack of customer service, especially considering it was very quiet. Maybe the manager (Grant?) was off for the evening, so the staff just thought they should have a quiet night too, at our expense! For ease of reference, we were at table 12 at approximately 8pm on Monday 24th June if you care to check your CCTV & our order on your system. So much for training staff to up-sell! They couldn’t have shown any less interest, or care, especially when it was so empty! We didn’t complain as it would’ve fallen on deaf ears! I’m sorry to leave this 2 star review, but we always loved the White Cart & it’s friendly, courteous staff, but now it’s a faceless, impersonal, corporate place of work for young Gen Z type new staff with no interest in paying customers. I hope Grant reads this review, responds, explains & speaks to the staff responsible for their slow & poor service & lack of basic courtesy & language skills. We ‘may’ return if the customer service & portion sizes significantly...
