We booked apartment 2A and received a request to let the manager know when we would be arriving, so he could be there to hand over the keys. As we were travelling from the South of England, we gave an approximate arrival time and said we would confirm as we got nearer. Traffic was OK, but the kids got hungry earlier than we expected, so we stopped for food and duly sent the corrected arrival time.||||The place was quite hard to find, particularly as the sign is only visible from 1 direction. This resulted in us being 3 minutes past our revised arrival window.||||The manager was not at all friendly or welcoming. We apologised for being a few minutes late and he reprimanded us for being "much later". We swiftly corrected him of his error.||||The apartment it's self has a lot of potential and indeed quite a bit of effort has gone into some aspects of it. However, the over all effect is one of being slightly dilapidated and half-done. In some regards it caused us significant concerns.||||The main issues: ||1. We could see no fire/carbon monoxide detectors. If these are not already required by law, they certainly should be, especially when you have gas appliances in the room. ||2. There were chain locks on the outside of the main bedroom and the living room, where the only possible use would be to lock someone inside the room! I can't think of any suitable justification for these to be present, never mind in serviced accommodation. ||3. Lighting in the flat apartment as a whole was pretty poor. This was especially an issue in the living room when we tried to wash up late at night as we couldn't see the dirt on the plates.||||Minor issues:||1. The bathroom sink is way too high. It is of the type that should not be sat on a standard height counter, but rather sunk into it. ||2. The toilet is situated such that if you are 6 foot or taller, you will bang your head on the shower cubicle as you go to sit on the loo.||3. The shower head can't be set at a suitable height for anyone above 6 foot as the rail is set too low. It is also set in the worst possible corner, making the spray bounce out of the shower cubicle entrance.||4. The bed in the main bedroom is set into the bay window, making it difficult to access curtains and meaning that they jut out over the top of the bed.||5. The main shelf in the door of the fridge is barely holding together, making it tricky to store milk.||6. There is no real prep area in the kitchenette as all work surfaces are taken up with something. You at best get 1/2 a unit beside the microwave.||7. There is a washing machine, but no dishwasher. So I really would recommend eating out or getting a take away to minimise washing up (in the dark!).||||The following morning, I found that the local 'bakery' does cracking breakfast rolls. Well worth walking up the road to get them and again saving on washing up, though at least it would be in the...
Read moreI don't even know where to start with The Busby Hotel. we got married here 17.20.25 and can honestly say they have been amazing to work with. From going to our first viewing and meeting Megan who from the very start was amazing with us. Was never pushy just very supportive with every aspect of making our wedding day amazing. She was always there for any questions that needed answered. Megan thanks so much ❤️ After booking our day we went for a few dinners and lunches with family and the food in Carter's is beautiful, never once we've had a bad meal. All the staff were so lovely too. Fast forward to our wedding. We decided to stay the night before and have a family meal. Again this was fantastic, food and service top notch and Connor who worked with us in our wedding team was over at the meal introducing himself and making us feel at ease. On our wedding day both Connor and Rebecca were outstanding. Keeping us informed of how the venue was looking, making sure our vendors were sorted. I was so relaxed knowing everything was being handled. The whole day went without one hitch, all our guests have actually commented that it's the best wedding they have been to. They couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the venue was and how amazing the food at the dinner and buffet was. We agree the food was delicious. The honeymoon suite. Wow 😲😲 it is absolutely stunning and one of the things that won us over. I would loved to have been able to stay the night after the wedding too to get the use of the facilities. Will just need to book again in future to fully enjoy it. I honestly don't know what else to say but thank you so much for making our day so special. I would love to do it all again ❤️ We will be back soon for food or an overnight. Customers for...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights to attend an event nearby.
We didn't really have any expectations going in as it was meant to be a base so that we could go to the event. However, the staff were absolutely brilliant here. We stay away a lot in the UK and are often left a bit disappointed by customer service but the staff at The Busby were just wonderful. Attentive, accommodating, friendly and not pushy/in your face.
There were two weddings on the days/nights we were there but it didn't affect our visit in any way.
The food and drink at The Busby is of a high quality - we are both foodies and have learned to lower our expectations of hotel food but The Busby was a pleasant surprise. A good, diverse but small dinner menu with all food cooked perfectly. Lunch menu is great - light bites or gastro pub style meals. The drinks selection is good and the cocktails are of a good quality. Try the Disaronno Velvet - you won't be disappointed. Breakfast offerings are varied and of a good quality but if you want toast you have to ask for it.
The decor is modern/classic and the hotel is clean. Our room was very nice - I'd wanted to upgrade in advance was unable to but there were weddings on during our stay. The shower is excellent, really, really excellent. The mattress and pillows were a bit too firm for our liking but this is something that is very subjective and I guess hotels etc are at the mercy of personal preference with this.
The Busby was a really pleasant surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Due to its location, we are unlikely to have a need to visit again but given how enjoyable the experience was, we wouldn't rule out another visit for a chilled, romantic couple of nights.
Well done to The Busby for recruiting such top...
