If I could leave a minus I would. Please avoid !! I booked a table for four for my fathers 88th birthday and quite frankly the chef has given up. The soup of the day was peppery served with rolls that were similar in consistency to a rock and could not be chewed at all The mains were just as disappointing. The fish was old - at least I was told it was a fish- there was nothing of it, covered in a thick over done batter, with mushy peas that were old and set in position. The steak and ale pie was forgettable average at best with chips that were over done and had obviously been warmed up. It was supposed to have come with vegetables - peas to be precise. The gammon was very salty and must have had extra salt added as it was unpalatable. The vegetarian mushroom option was okay but all chips were warm ups.

Not too impressed with my visit. Sat down @ 6:50 and not served until 7:50. Table for two. Only ordered a Steak. (Waited 50 mins) and the pub wasnt even full. Unfortunately the plate I was served was not worth the wait. Small piece of steak with mashed potato and peas. The look of the plate was bare. Portions were small. The plate looked bare. Plenty of peas, probably to make the ate look full. If I was paying for pub grub then I wouldn't expect too much. But prices for both meals were not cheap. So disappointed with my experience. I can't comment on the food but the service and attitude of staff that we experienced this afternoon was nothing short of disgraceful! I jokingly said that we'd waited so long "we thought it was self service". Was TOLD "I've been busy serving food!" Then proceeded to answer the phone and dismiss us completely. An older lady then, quite aggressively, demanded to know what the issue was. She wouldn't accept any criticism of events and we left.
