Edit Jan 2025: Visited again tonight, absolutely amazing! Staff were attentive, friendly and so helpful. Amazing cocktails, fabulous atmosphere. So glad the teething issues when first opening have been resolved. Thanks for a great evening!
Oct 2024: Disappointing visit to Deckhouse on Saturday evening. Service was very slow, and no apologies were made for this. Ordered bread and olives for the table to start, the bread was clearly forgotten about as only arrived once we asked again for it. This was really nice and warm when it arrived.
The fish pie was extremely salty, to the point my friend couldn't eat it. Another member of our group ordered the chicken, which was extremely small. I had the steak and stilton pie, which was OK but didn't have any stilton in whatsoever. We weren't checked on so no clear opportunity to feed this back until everyone had finished and having waited a long time for our food anyway, didn't want to have to wait further.
When we got the bill, a £25 service charge had been added. Had the service been good this would have been fine, but felt this shouldn't have been included considering how slow things were. We advised we wouldn't be paying this and would leave our own tip in cash, but this was rudely returned by the waitress.
All this was after my husband and I popped in just before 6pm on Friday night for a drink - hardly anyone in there but told fairly rudely by the manager that they were doing bookings only (even though booking slots were also available online for just 5 minutes' time), even just for a drink at the bar where there were empty stools. Their website says "Booking is recommended but not essential as we always leave room for walk-ins", but this isn't the case from our experience.
The refurb does look great and it has lots of potential to be a great spot, if they work to get things like the service right. As a local, I really wanted to support this new independent venue, but the service and food just wasn't up to scratch on this occasion sadly. Hopefully these issues will get ironed out for the future as I don't want to write...
Read moreI think this is in the top five of my worst experiences ever when eating out, and I’m not that young so this was pretty dire! Four of us ordered sat at a freezing table and ordered a few starters and basic brunch dishes plus a few drinks. Waited about 20 minutes for two cappuccinos, which were barely luke warm. Waited another 15-20 minutes for our food order to be taken. Waited 55 minutes and no food to be seen. Eventually half of the brunches (we’re talking eggs on a muffin and basic breakfasts here) arrived, stone cold. One egg undercooked, the other rock hard (meant to be poached eggs royals). No condiments offers, had to ask about six times and were then given one tiny pot of ketchup between four people. No mayonnaise until I chased endless times. Towards the end of our mains the starters arrived which we’d already asked to be cancelled as they’d not arrived. They cancelled but still tried to charge us. The venue was only at about 50-60% capacity so God knows what it’s like when it’s really busy. There were plenty of staff walking around, haplessly dropping cutlery, not knowing how to clean tables, dropping drinks half on us and not cleaning them up or noticing that they’d gotten Coke on our clothes. They must have zero training and be paid a pittance. Still had the audacity to add on the service charge despite it being obvious that we were far from satisfied. A woman (I’m guessing a manager based on her wearing a formal suit) charged us and obviously knows nothing about hospitality and customer service. Had I not been using the toilet at the time that the bill was paid I would have disputed this charge, but my husband doesn’t like to be disagreeable. Horrific on...
Read more🌟 Deckhouse Sevenoaks – A Flawless Experience from Start to Finish
We recently held a large gathering at Deckhouse in Sevenoaks – around 25 to 35 people – and honestly, words don’t do justice to how amazing everything was. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and perfectly set up for our group. The team handled everything with ease, professionalism, and smiles all around – the chefs, the front-of-house staff, everyone. You could tell they truly cared about delivering an unforgettable experience.
The food? Out of this world. Every single dish was spot on – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and served hot and fresh despite the size of our group. From the small plates to the mains and desserts, everything was cooked to perfection. People are still talking about it days later.
The chefs deserve a special mention – you could taste the passion in every bite. It wasn’t just food – it was craft, skill, and heart on a plate. Hats off to the kitchen team.
The service? Absolutely on point. Attentive but never intrusive, friendly but always professional. Drinks kept flowing, the timing was perfect, and any request we had was handled quickly and smoothly.
It’s rare to find a venue that delivers on food, service, and atmosphere all at once, especially for a larger booking – but Deckhouse nailed it across the board.
In short: flawless. If you're looking for a place where the food is amazing, the chefs are top-tier, and the experience is genuinely memorable – Deckhouse is it. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Thank you to the whole team – you made our night unforgettable. We’ll be back, no...
