Rajasthan Spice — Restaurant in Sheffield

We'd not ordered from here before but after reading reviews decided to place an order. Most of the one star reviews came from customers eating at home, wrong stuff being delivered etc and four or five star reviews came from people eating in the restaurant suggesting the food was lovely. We ordered our meal, 2 veggie starters (onion bhaji and Punjab aubergines) with pickle tray, one lamb dhansak and one chicken jalfrezi, one boiled rice and one garlic naan, I just asked them to repeat the order back to me and let me know how much it came to. The meal came within half an hour, yes it was a Wednesday night so not like ordering at busy weekend times however the meal we ordered was all there and red hot too. To say the food was delicious seems like an understatement, the starters were really tasty and the lamb and chicken were both melt in the mouth, the jalfrezi was hot, hot, hot like it should be with green chillies in it. The hubster loved his dhansak. The pickle tray was very basic but that's the only tiny flaw in an otherwise fantastic meal. We couldn't eat it all as the portions were pretty large but we just warmed the leftovers up last night and enjoyed the meal again!! We will definitely order another takeaway from here but we've decided our next meal at Rajasthan will be eaten in the restaurant. Don't be put off by one star reviews, the food is too...

This was our second new year eve trip to the Rajasthan spice in a row, the first didn't go very well and we waited over an hour for our table which we had pre-booked we were told it was an issue with their app which I wasn't convinced was true but I gave them the benefit of the doubt , so the next time we booked by phone instead we arrived 5 minutes early were shown to the table and ordered, an hour and a quarter later nothing, no member of staff came to explain or apologise for the hold up, I had just put my coat on to leave when they hurried over with the starter, I probably should have still left but didn't, the total time from arrival to departure was over 2 and a half hours basically the same as the year before, totally unacceptable, lt is obvious that they prioritise the takeaway side of the business to the detriment of restaurant diners, so I won't be coming for a third year which is a shame because the food when it finally arrives...

Got takeaway from here - ready within half an hour but when I got it home 2 portions of onion Bhajis were not in the bag and half of our pickle tray was missing to accompany the poppadoms. I rang to ask if they could deliver them as it was missing and after several attempts to explain what was missing - they said give them 15 mins and it would be delivered. 1 hour later no sign of the delivery and that was after chasing twice to be answered with it was on its way already which was obviously a blatant lie. At 9.30pm kids had gone to bed and we had cleared up so I rang to say I wanted a refund as it was just too late now and he said he would send the money round with a driver and then put the phone down on me after taking my number - I never did get the refund!
