While this place isn't new and shiny - a little worn down, in fact - it was a nice surprise. Here were our thoughts:
Firstly, there was room at this pub and once full, people were encouraged to wait instead of turned away, like lots of other places.
Second, we were greeted and seated by a kind, thin man who checked in on us throughout the meal and helped us with the "self service" portion. He, along with the other staff really cared.
Third, the food was quite good. We're not talking about anything too intense or fancy, just basic pub seafood mostly, but the execution looked like it had an x-factor.

We quickly ordered and our food & drinks came swiftly. The langoustines tasted SO good! And, they are better value than the other ones at restaurants in the same area- I know their menu probably changes with time, but we were given 10 very large langoustines for £22 (in other restaurants that usually gave us around 6 of them for that price). They were already cracked open which was easier than having to pull the tail off each one. Lovely selection of local ales and the Sticky Toffee Pudding was heavenly. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant on our next...
