A few minutes walk from the local Travelodge. The pub is fantastic, the staff, welcoming and enthusiastic but the food is simply out of this world!
Each dish had shown real skill in its preparation and delivery, me and my group of friends were returning from a day at Thorpe Park and found the Golden Cross perfectly within walking distance of our hotel. We tried a variety of meals which consisted of the kids Rump Steak Burger, Fresh Haddock, 8oz Rump Steak, Seafood Platter and Tradition Burgers and Onion Rings.
Each meal looked superb upon its arrival but tasted even better, the fish dishes were coated in a fresh homemade light batter while the fish is was simply massive! The burgers were homemade and presented on a wooden board with a small bucket of chips and again was prepared fresh and tasted outstanding.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area and you will not be disappointed at all. The staff are warm and inviting and only exceeded by the taste and quality of the food. For the quality of the meals the prices are perfectly acceptable if not better. We all left the restaurant feeling highly satisfied and more importantly extremely happy.
Quite simply put, probably the best meal I've ever had! Highly...

Read moreVisited this pub yesterday evening as we were staying in the Travelodge close by, the beer in the Travelodge was shameful it had as much life as water so we were told about this pub by a couple of other people staying in the same hotel. On arrival we were greeted warmly by the bar staff, it was a well presented establishment extremely clean with a lovely beer garden, we also ordered four very tasty meals and drinks. The bar staff were very friendly to the children and had a great report with their clientele, I would highly recommend, can't praise the staff enough as I work in a customer service industry so I can appreciate when it's delivered well. Well done the...
