I am a regular customer at this pub.|| The bitters are in wonderful condition every time I’m there. ||And the pub has very good offerings on lagers and some good wines. ||They also do a Sparkling wine by the glass as well as good quality Gins and high end tonic.||The menu changes with the season and standards are never dropped, ||all menu item are always available .||The decor is pleasant and well designed. ||And the cleanliness outstanding.||There are a garden area in front and patio seating to the rear.||The Sunday roast is faultless.||With all these facts ,you could wonder why the owners do not train their staff properly?||The service is bumpy and lacklustre. ||Very often there are no staff behind the bar. ||Also the stall are all male, young and not very experienced, ||these chaps are disconnected and not invested.||Except the assistant manager who try’s his best but comes across as uncomfortable in his job.||The only staff member that emits personality is the twenty something year old with his signature baseball cap.||These facts are the pub’s only weakness .||I would love the owners to succeed, but when you run a upmarket setup like this one you really need to get the service right every time.||That is not the case, unfortunately!||This is a constructive criticism and based on my experience as a regular customer.||It will not stop me going there ,I just want to see a more gender equal and well trained staff...

Stayed here one night as a Stove from eddex travelling back up North. Used the local park and ride to explore Cambridge before setting off on our journey. The rooms were clean, compact and cosy. They were done up to a very high standard of furnishings. The bed was great and we slept like logs. Parking is easy outside the rooms. The village of milton is quiet. You can walk 5-10 mins to the nature reserve down the road (or drive for even less). This place doesn't do breakfast unfortunately and we didn't find anywhere to get breakfast either in the village (not to say there wasn't anywhere). We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and it was excellent quality and beautiful restaurant /pub. It isn't a rowdy pub in the slightest, it's a classy gastro-pub and that's reflected in the price. |My own thing letting this place down is there is no breakfast - so I think they should have given us some decent coffee - it's not great to start the day on an empty stomach and a sachet of instant coffee. It wouldnt cost much to put a small caffetierre and some fresh coffee in the rooms, it shows good hospitality seeing as we spent £100 on the room plus £50 in...

Thought we'd try it as it's recently been under new management. On entering we asked to see the menu before deciding to stay or not, and this was no problem! We then sat down and were informed there would be a bit of a wait, as a large group had pre-ordered and were due to be served. This was fine. I ordered a starter, which they kindly offered to large up to a main size, which I declined due to my appetite, and my friend ordered a special. Both meals were served attentively by the young girl that served us. The food was delicious and cooked by the husband of the new husband and wife managers. We then shared a delicious treacle sponge and custard pudding, which was wonderfully light! Nothing was too much trouble for all the staff and they were all very attentive and friendly even in the very hot temperature of the eve! Will definitely go again and recommend unreservedly😁

Competitive Pub Trying to write reviews for the Cambridge pubs therefore entered this restaurant. The menu is relatively limited compared to Milton Arms and Lion&Lamb nearby, but still competitive. The lamb rump was in Indian style, very soft and tender that melted into your mouth. With a nice salad. But the rice was slightly dry and stuck together, probably slightly stuck into the bottom of the cooker? The burger was really nice. It had both quality and quantity. Large and juicy burger. Not oily. The chips were hot and tasted very good, in generous quantity. The restaurant is rustic but clean. The toilets are clean and roomy. The staff was nice and helpful. He offered help even we didn't request. Overall it's a competitive business in Cambridge.

I came to know about this place after googling the ideal place to stay in Cambridge. It's a family run pub located quite close to the Cambridge North train station and city centre. They provide accommodation, restaurant, garden and free car parking spaces. We stayed for 2 nights in one of their family room which was clean and cosy. Rooms are newly done and well decorated. Don't expect it like a hotel because they offer limited facilities. Only disadvantage is they do not provide breakfast. So if you are staying their then you have to plan your breakfast in advance. Food and service is good.
